New Owner with some questions

Post by matthew.f.young »

Hey,

I have just picked up a 2010 2.0 TFSi GT in white with 70k on the clock and was after some advice;

Is there anything I should be looking out for regarding drivetrain?

I purchased it from a used car dealer and so don't really know much about the history of the vehicle, its had the wheels changed to BBS RX-R's in 19" and i think it may have been re-mapped as it seems very quick for 210 BHP - is there an easy way to find if this has been done?

As a side note - does anyone want to swap the BBS wheels for some original VW 19" alloys? all of the tyres have 90% tread

Thanks Guys!

Congrats on the car and welcome :) the only true way is to test on a rolling road and see what that brings out, do you have a photo of the wheels? I'm running silver 19" Luganos.

Welcome!

I think the most obvious ones worth checking on a used Rocco are the Cam belt/water pump (should be done every 5 years or 120,000 miles) and the DSG oil change on the semi-auto boxed models. If you've got no paperwork but suspect it might have been done, I believe you can contact the previous owner (before the garage) through the V5C document & ask the question of what they know/have done.

Couldn't hurt to have a standard service done on the engine 'just because' if you're not 100% sure of the history; it'll give you a fresh, clean engine as well as highlight any potential problems coming up before they become an issue. Oil change & filter, maybe some new spark plugs etc. It's worth giving your car a nice clean bill of health in my opinion.

Any questions, just fire away!

Hey,

Thanks guys!

I have attached a picture of the wheels, they are all immaculate with no marks on at all. what do you think? the front tyres were changed 500 miles ago so are mint and the back tyres have probably 95% of teh tread left.

Cheers
