Hi all, at last I've finally arranged to have a Revo stage 1 and Revo panel filter fitted to my car. It's booked in Monday, can't wait.

I'm taking it to TC Garage, Gatwick, I've just called them to book and forgot to ask if they have a rolling road, does anyone know if they do? Is it necessary to use a rolling road for a stage 1 remap, some garages I called said it wasn't, is that because that don't have one!!

Also, has anyone had any experience with these guys? They aren't the nearest garage but they seem the most knowledgeable and seem to have a good customer feedback?

Stage 1 is a standard software map. It's not customised for your car, or any other mods you have made, and they could apply it to a car in your local tesco car park if they so desired. No rolling road required.

just a quick question, I'm thinking of getting a Rocco R and possibly getting it remaped as well. How much BHP would a stage 1 add? How much does it cost? How much does it a stage 1 increase the likelihood of something breaking, and roughly how much quicker would you say it'll be doing 0-60? Sorry for all the questions :lol: Thanks!

The Revo Technik website should have the stats for their remaps, APR (goapr) should do also. Using them as an example
Stage 1 is designed to release a standard cars potential and should not affect any parts, other than possibly the clutch components in a manual, if they are old or worn but you should be fine with it.
Stage 2 requires an aftermarket turbo back exhaust and induction kit amongst other recommendations.
Stage 3 (for non R) is an upgraded turbo going from K03 to K04 several other mods are reccommended for this further increase in power.

Just keep scrolling through the forum(s) chat to people and research as best you can before buying thats what most people do. Puts your mind at ease! :D

Ah brilliant thanks for your reply, I was only ever planning on going stage 1 so it's good to know it shouldn't put much pressure on anything. I'm looking at getting a second hand R on autotrader, the ones at 40-50k miles with full VW SH are in my price range, would they still be in good enough condition to remap?

I would think they are still fine to remap, so long as it is a good quality remap like Revo or APR, some cheap maps can do harm to your car. I would still ask professionals for their advice/experience if you can and other users with an R. I have a 2.0 tsi with Revo software and hardware and its great!

300 - 315 with just a stage one map, that's good gains for the money. Will update tomorrow on my findings once mines been done :hyper:

Cost is £600, plus Revo panel filter "want to keep it looking stock" £40 and a sps box £100.

Well my Tesco remap went well!

Joking aside, the guys at TC Garage were most knowledgeable and didn't mind me sticking my noise in the remap process. I was very interested in how it all works. There are some custom mods to each map, some have said there isn't but it seem you can adjust fuel, turbo and timing, if I remember correctly over a base map. So depending on what hardware you have, fuel pump, intake these can be adjusted. So I think a rolling road would be helpful but not absolutely essential. A road test was done and all seems ok.

However, once home i noticed that when i'm revving the car to say 2.5k and above, as the revs drop to about 1.5k it gets lumpy to the point that the car shakes a little and the rev counter isn't smooth. Also you can hear that it's not smooth. I called TC Garage and they want to have a look at it, I have to go back as the SPS they had didn't work so a new one is on order. They said they would call back if something was bad happening but did say it will be ok.

So all in all, I'm very impressed with the map, I did get 37+mpg coming home, thats until a chav in a merc wanted a race, couldn't resist, he was history :hyper:

I know tc garage and sorry I didn't see this before as only recently joined this forum.

Them boys are alright.

Do you have a stick or dsg?

Do you have a spa switch as I have one if you need as assume you maybe londonish way.

You can adjust the fuel timing and boost but tbh the map is still generic.

I have a manual box, I do need a sps and TC have ordered me one. I tried the rev thing again and it seems like some sort of flutter in the exhaust, wast gate?

Thanks for the offer of the sps, but as TC have ordered one and they need to programming it too I'll have to pass

The switch comes with stock settings, you can adjust the settings yourself.

tbh if I was you I would order the REVO SPS Pro (if its compatible with your Rocco),which incorporates the POLAR FIS and all the SPS settings will be in the MFD otherwise purchasing the SPS you will hardly use it.

tbh if I was you I would order the REVO SPS Pro (if it's compatible with your Rocco),which incorporates the POLAR FIS and all the SPS settings will be in the MFD otherwise purchasing the SPS you will hardly use it.
Thanks for the info, the chaps at TC garage told me about the SPS Pro. I had already looked into it but I kind of like the fact that the map is a little more invisible with just the normal SPS box. The Pro is fitted behind the clocks and would take a little work to remove if I needed to.

I don't think I will use the SPS much tbh, it's only if I need to remove the map. The Pro gives you a lot more info, and as I can't stop messing around with the cars standard info, any more toys to play with could lead me crashing into the back of someone :fall: . I need less distraction in my car, not more!

Well done on getting taking the plunge and getting the map.
Hopefully your issues w3ill be sorted out without much hassle.

This is a reason why I'd prefer to go for a custom map on a RR so that everything can be monitored and tested before you leave.

@PhsycoKirky - I have pretty much the same hardware as you, Just debating on going straight for the map now, or getting the cooler first. does it make much difference with the cooler or would it be better with a bigger slug like a k04?

Well to be honest im not sure if it does make a difference to stage 2, I mean i usually drive normally, but when I hoon it round im focusing on the road and havnt really felt a difference that may be because of an intercooler.
Stage 3 is completely different now though. If you can get one and fit it then it will benefit, im just not sure if the K03 will take full advantage even though the K03 is still a mighty little turbo!
Im still yet to get on a rolling road, hopefully do it in May.

All in all if you can get one then it should help with cooling the air going from the turbo into the manifold, thus improving volumetric efficiency taking advantage of colder, denser air :D

I/C will make a difference and you will be able to tell straight away.

although not needed for stage 2+ i would recommend it.

WMI works a treat and another mod i would suggest in helping keep the temps down.
