1.4 TSi slight judders when idle?

After reading the horror stories on here I feel every judder and as one would expect get a little panicky as I don't want the dreaded misfire issue,

I have a 2010 1.4 tsi 160, sits at 700-750rpm when in idle and the revs don't move at all, they're solid. Never drop below this. I do have a slight judder feeling now and again not constant but when I'm sat at the lights etc I can feel it, there is no misfires I can get the engine up and above 6000 and it runs like a dream, just when in idle I feel a slight jumpy feeling through the seat can't really describe it any better. I have no judders through the steering wheel as people have said before with engine problems so I don't think it's anything bad just doing my head in.

Would love if someone could shed some light on its possibility?

The slight judder at idle, as you have described, is nothing to worry about - I get the same.
It's common on many direct injection engines that have some miles on it - it's the result of carbon build up on the intake valves.

The 1.4 TSI is not particularly prone to carbon build up (unlike the 2.0 TSI) - but like all DI engines it will have some.
The twincharged 1.4 is particularly sensitive to anything affecting air flow at idle, as it results in an incomplete/delayed/poor air-fuel burn.
This stems from the smaller spark plug gap, which is necessary to prevent misfire at high boost, giving a thinner weaker spark.
Also the older revision injectors that are in the 2010, have a narrower spray pattern which results in a poorer air fuel mix, particularly at low fuel volumes (idle)

The judder is annoying - bugged me from the moment I bought mine at 30k miles. I have reduced mine so that it now only really does it from a cold start during warm up...once warmed up I rarely feel it at idle. This was a result of newer revision injectors, and higher ouput coil packs being fitted.

Anyway the slight judder is nothing to be concerned with. Just make sure your sparks are good - i'd change them every 20-30k miles on this engine as a precaution.
Also drop some intank injector cleaner in once a year - the older revision injectors are prone to clogging at the tips.

I got some before and after pictures of my carbon build up clean i had done on my Roc. It was about 400 quid but worth every penny.

Thanks for that matey, looks nice and shiny now haha, did this get rid of ur rough idling? That's if you had any in the first place?

My idling wasn't too bad it was at low rev speeds it felt a bit fluttery and read about carbon build up issue plaguing this engine. Mine is a 2.0 TSI. Tried all sorts to fix but in the end just bit the bul4let and had the manifold stripped and cleaned. Runs superb now even with 95k on the clock.

Its a pefectionist thing. It bugged me to the point where i didnt want to drive it as it would just annoy me. I took it to a local VAG specialist that i trust implicitly to have the work done. They spent 45min per port cleaning it all out with removal etc it was about 5 hours labour. About £400 total. About 35 of that was parts like gaskets and seals. I tried an engine carbon clean company before this but was not at all impressed. Good luck with it and let us know of any further developments.

Its a lot more difficult to do a valve clean on the 1.4 TSI, compared to the 2.0 TSI.
To get to the intake ports, a lot more parts have to come off - a hell of a lot more.
Also the intake ports are very deep, and the intake splitter is not removable like the 2.0TSI - this means it has to be cleaned with a walnut shell blaster - you can't get brush'es etc down the channel.
To see the results as you progress you could do with an endoscope too - as you literally have to climb into the engine bay to stick your head in far enough, upside down to see the valves. The intake is on the backside of the engine and not the front like the 2.0.

It can be done though - just expect the bill to be a higher on the labour side, and again whoever is doing the cleaning must have a media blaster.
