right guys im looking into my roc, but there are a few options i want ive narrowed it down as much as i can, you advice would be great, if i should avoid certain ones if i can get them cheaper elsewhere etc. its just a shame so many things are options, as ive never owned a vw before im new to this.
looking forward to hearing your reviews.
cheers.
1. autohold (sounds a good aid)
2. carpet mats (do these come with scirocco on them?)
3. smoke pack (to hide big hole in lower dash????)
4. xenon lights (expensive but a 100% must in my opinon)
5. paint (either blue or white car although i love blue)
6. dyno audio (if this is as good as people say dont mind paying for it)
7. flat tyre indicator (seems a very useful device)
8. park sensors (a must as many of you have said)
9.ipod adaptor (do i need this with gt spec?)
10.door sills (makes the car that extra special)
11. mudflaps (in 2 minds hopefully it will keep all the crap off the paintwork)
13. alloy pedals (a must i think tranforms the car)
ive dropped leather and dsg out.

SCOTT wrote:1. autohold (sounds a good aid) The DSG has this as standard and it works very well IMO
2. carpet mats (do these come with scirocco on them?) Bit of gentle haggling should get them thrown in
3. smoke pack (to hide big hole in lower dash????) Doesn't bother me having a hole there. useful for chucking things in
4. xenon lights (expensive but a 100% must in my opinon) If they were available when I ordered I'd have got them. They look great.
5. paint (either blue or white car although i love blue) Blueeeee
6. dyno audio (if this is as good as people say dont mind paying for it) I think the standard audio is fine but I haven't tried a serious back to back comparison
7. flat tyre indicator (seems a very useful device) no brainer for £35 quid
8. park sensors (a must as many of you have said) Don't think I could live without them tbh
9.ipod adaptor (do i need this with gt spec?) Standard on GT and make sure they give you the free cable to go with it.
10.door sills (makes the car that extra special) They look ok but not something I'll go for
11. mudflaps (in 2 minds hopefully it will keep all the crap off the paintwork) Can be quite colour sensitive. I think they look fine on white but on black they make the car look a bit fat.
13. alloy pedals (a must i think tranforms the car) I might get these at some point. They do look good. No idea why the UK spec doesn't have them.

I really like my panorama roof, quite an expensive option though, but if you can afford it i'd say go for it.

Factory fit mats do not say Scirocco on them, dealer fit premium ones do.

Re: MY OPTIONS/ WHATS YOUR VIEWS
The demo car I took a run in was a DSG box, first time that I'd driven one. Can't believe how great it was - changes so smooth you don't notice you've changed. For sitting in traffic during commuting it's ideal, so that was me sold on the DSG box. Can't see me going back to manual box while VAG keep DSG as good as it is.SCOTT wrote: 1. autohold (sounds a good aid)
My OH's Passat has Auto Hold on a manual box and it took me a bit of getting used to at the start - but worth having.
4. xenon lights (expensive but a 100% must in my opinon)
I couldn't decide on Xenons, but eventually added them to the order. Think they're worth the money.
5. paint (either blue or white car although i love blue)
Having seen a few around, white really suits the car
7. flat tyre indicator (seems a very useful device)
£35 option - no brainer really
8. park sensors (a must as many of you have said)
Definate requirement - can see bog all out the rear, but the wing mirrors are pretty good and make up a bit for lack of rear view.
10.door sills (makes the car that extra special)
Still not sure on these, I'll probably give them a miss to start with but maybe add in the future
ive dropped leather and dsg out.
Looks like you've a good set of options there, I would re-consider DSG especially if you sit in queues of slow moving traffic daily.

Re: MY OPTIONS/ WHATS YOUR VIEWS
Why pay for autohold on a manual - you have a handbrake. You have 2 seconds to move off with autohold, or you'll roll back. Or you can keep the handbrake on for as long as you like, letting go when you want to move, not when autohold decides you've had your 2 seconds. There will be situations when you need more than 2 seconds (like being stuck behind someone at a roundabout who doesn't move off when their way is clear).
Definitely get the (factory fit, not that retrofit crap) parking sensors.

Re: MY OPTIONS/ WHATS YOUR VIEWS
Is auto hold on the Scirocco not the same as on the Passat then? On the Passat, once you press the footbrake (and have auto hold switched on), the brakes are only released once you hit the accelerator and start moving forward and there's no time limit. I just assumed auto hold on a manual box on the Scirocco would be the same as that.maisbitt wrote:Why pay for autohold on a manual - you have a handbrake. You have 2 seconds to move off after taking your foot off the brake with DSG, I assume the manual would be the same.
