Yes - sounds like this car has been in some kind of shunt.

Check the track control arms to see if one is bent.

Have a general look around to see if anything looks damaged / bent or shiny compared to it's surroundings indicating recent replacement.

When the tracking was done, did they clamp the steering wheel in the centre position and adjust both track rods to get within spec.?

Some places are lazy and only adjust one track rod to get within spec meaning tracking is correct but steering wheel is off centre.

It's a nail obviously. Surely under the sale of goods act you have the right to return it with a full refund.

Consumer rights act 2015 that came into force last year - gives you the right to return any product, including a car, that has any fault that was not disclosed at the time of purchase, for a full refund within 30 days of purchase.

Take it back, list the faults, say you want a refund under the consumer rights act. You have more than enough faults listed to demand a refund.

If the card payment was using a credit card, you also have Section 75 on your side.

Where possible I always use a credit card to either pay the deposit or part payment of any high value item to ensure Section 75 protection on the whole amount.

Good luck, it doesn't like he is going to make it easy for you.
