Aftermarket replacement HU that looks / works like OEM?

Post by Springs »

Hi all.

I've had my car for some time now and thinking about changing the HU. I was originally thinking of getting Bluetooth added onto my existing headunit but want to know if there are any suitable replacements that would suit my needs?

I'm wanting it to be a direct replacement for the OEM one so it needs to be able to to the following?

Steering controls still work for both phone and music
MFD still works and displays as normal
MDI still works as expected (not 100% required but would be nice)
Bluetooth which works as much as the OEM one would
sat nav works as normal and possibly through the MFD if possible?

If not i'll just look at getting the bluetooth module installed onto the car

It's a little out of my price range for just a radio.

absolute max would be £300 - £400

I tried a £250 android one and found it cheap and nasty, not oem feel at all, I've forked out for the kenwood dnx525 and I'm seriously impressed!
If I were you I'd either leave the original or save for something by a recognisable brand!

I've looked at the Kenwood but it appears that it doesn't actually integrate into the car like the OEM one does
