New R for Christmas for a Scirocco newb

Hi Roccos (is that the term for a Sciocco owner?)
Just thought I would introduce myself as I have just ordered a new R due date Dec 22nd "sigh" I have wanted one for the last 5 years and I remember the 80s original as a kid.
Any tips for me to fill the void between now and then? :(

Welcome to the forum and that's a nice Xmas present to yourself.

By the way the "original" Scirocco is from the 70s. The 80s one was the MK2.

Congrats! Get yourself some super cleaning products and wait patiently :)

For my sanity, don't let vw clean it please :( quick way to spoil the car...

I have a car due dec. Can't decide if it's worth waiting to make it a 2016 car

Very similar. I have opted for dynaudio plus 90 tint. Pretty sure parking sensors standard on the R

Nice I did consider the tint too.
I Test drove a R-Line with a parking camera but I am told this is unavailable in the R so just the sensors then :(
Cruise control is a must for me as I have a old sports injury to my heel which gives me grief if held in the same position for a while.

Best of luck with your new R. Ordered mine 16/06/2015 and it was delivered in about Six weeks to the dealer. Delayed collection/registration until 1st Sept. Well pleased with mine as I'm sure you will be too.

Can you not wait another 8 days? Doubt you will drive it much over 24/25/26th then 31/1st etc,..

My R was 23/12/10 and I just can't quite understand why the original owner did not wait until 01/01/11 to make it a 2011 car

But then again, I can see your exictement and its a hard decision - good luck and enjoy!

Yes It was a hard decision not to wait as the retailer did give me the option but I have already waited over two months for it!
Not being a big drinker, and lots of visiting relatives to do (to show it off :D ) and the car is lease so I am not worried about the resale value so not many reasons to wait really.

It'll still be a 65 plate and a 2016 car, a few days won't make any difference to resale, in any case OP is leasing.

By that logic you'd be forever putting off collection for the sake of a few days/weeks.

Get it and drive it ;)
