SERIOUS HELP NEEDED

Post by Baz2126 »

Hi guys this is going to sound so stupid but I've been changing the headlights on my scirocco put one back in and thought Il look to see what the difference is between them. Bang down goes the bonnet, I forgot to connect the mechanism that releases the bonnet that attaches to bracket on top of the headlights. How can I open my bonnet help me please lol.

Just the bracket that sits on top of the headlight which the cable for the bonnet attaches to underneath. Then unscrewed the 3 bolts on the light itself and pulled the headlight out.

Once had the same problem on a golf IV. I created a hook wich i put through the grille. Took some time to get i released. But that system was a bit different.

I've looked all over internet for answers can't find anything on scirocco's. But the main way on most volkswagens is to jack the car up remove the under tray, then try and get to the catch from below some how. Really don't want to take it to a garage as with some of the quotes I've seen on various other forums they said they got quoted above £200

Just a thought, call a car locksmith or the AA/RAC if you can't get it yourself. HTH.

Try have a look at another Scirocco or VW with the same design of catch and work out how to release without the cable and try and do so through the front grill.

Other option is to break the front grill to get access. Not ideal but the grill can be replaced at reasonable cost.

All sorted green flag managed to sort it. Much thanks to Roy for sending the pictures, for future reference if anyone else manages to do this if u take out the trim inside the drivers wheel arch u will be able to get to the cable and give it a pull from there.

Good to hear they fixed it! Ok never knew that was possible, so where did you disconnect the bonnet cable in first place when you were changing the lights?
