Hi all,
On the way home from work I went to overtake a tractor and there was a sudden dip in power, so much so I ended up pulling back in behind the flaming thing. For the next 10 minutes no other symtoms were present, car seemed normal.
Got to the dual carriage way and when putting my foot down the car lost power again, but no where near as much as the first time. Carried on for a few miles and a misfire sound appeared followed by the engine management light and then EPC. The engine management light disapeared a couple of minutes later.
I stopped for a while on the way home (engine temp was showing ~70) and when setting off again all lights were clear, car felt normal. Misfire symptoms only existed when putting my foot down. I took the car out later on and kept my foot down for a few seconds until the engine management and EPC lights come on again. Read the code with my cheapy reader and it produced P0302 - missfire on cylinder 2.
I couldnt find any info on which cylinder was cylinder 2 so I went for the 2 middle cylinders. I got a spare coil pack and changed the original ones out in turn, the symptoms still exist. The engine was too hot to remove the spark plugs, so this job will be next after work tomorrow.
Any of you guys had this before and could point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance, Owen.
