Servicing. Emissions Control Service.

Post by BunnyJen »

Hi everyone.

I did a search for this and found nothing so apologies if it has been brought up before.

When booking my car in for a service I was offered an Emissions Control Service for an additional £24.99. I was told this improves MPG, and emissions and also improves the power when accelerating. Apparently it cleans out the engine and exhaust system making it like new? I said no to this for now as I was unsure what it was and if I was just being charged another 25 quid for something I don't need. I'd be very surprised if it did all that for just 25 quid. :/

Has anyone else had one of these? Is it worth it or is it something you really don't need to bother with?

Thanks. :)

An emissions control service is basically where they run a dose of fuel system cleaner through it. We used to offer it at the dealers where I was a service advisor. It's useless.
