RCD510 brightness

Post by lsuhe »

I was looking through the manual and also playing in the car when we got it to look at the brightness controls for the stereo. In the manual it suggests that there is an automatic setting for the brightnes (in the menu set up) or you can choose a brightness from about 4 or 5 different levels. There is also what appears to be possible a light sensor in the top right hand corner of the head unit (a small circle about 2mm diameter).
However when actually using the unit and going to the brightness control it does not appear to have an automatic setting, only bright, normal brightest and a dimmer setting, all of which don't appear to make much if any difference.
It looks fine but I was thinking for night driving it may be a bit bright?

anyone got similar issues?
Cheers
Chris

Mine seems to dim a bit when the headlights come on. Could well be imagining it though...

It is annoying having the lights on in the unit whilst driving at night. If I've got the music on at night I tend to make sure it's set to "dimmest" setting, ideally it would automatically switch off, the backlight that is, not the music.
