Do Sciroccos aggravate golf drivers?
Do we get Golf owners a little excited? Since getting the new car I seem to attract Golfs like flies to the bad stuff.
I've seen some spectacularly unwise under and over taking to ensure they nip past me in some cheeky fashion - yesterday's led to another car swerving close enough to the kerb to kick up huge clouds of dust, looked inches from something much more dramatic. The other roc drivers who get a little racy have been quite civilised about it (open roads, no tight passing) but it's like a red (viper green?) mist rises for them

Re: Do Sciroccos aggravate golf drivers?
Not sure as it's confined to Golf drivers to be honest, seems as though these days there are many a motorist who seem to want to prove a point regardless of the make of their vehicle. Had 3 Sciroccos since their launch back in '08, now in a GTI MK7 PP and will always have a soft spot for the 'Roc... Heard someone say once, 'treat everyone on the road like they're an idiot, most of the time they won't let you down'... Worth a thought?

Always. Any car can contain a randomer. Anyhow I'm not saying golf drivers are bad in any way, just that some are feeling racy - my car's look can't help.ricchester wrote:Heard someone say once, 'treat everyone on the road like they're an idiot, most of the time they won't let you down'... There's definitely some pattern to it all though. One of my favourite laughs of a few years ago was at Alton Towers watching the kids using the toy car racing track inside the Towers and the boy in the BMW driving right up the arse of the next car honking away - monkey see monkey do!

Re: Do Sciroccos aggravate golf drivers?
Some tool in a MK6 Golf GTi wanted to prove a point today. We were both waiting at the lights (opposite sides), i was waiting to turn left he was waiting to turn right onto the same road, i had right of way however when the lights went green he had to prove he wanted right of way by wellying it away from the lights to get it front! I followed behind him and he was in and out of traffic gaining no advance, he then pulled into a petrol station and so did i, didn`t say anything as i he already proven he was a tool but he just kept looking at my Scirocco

I don't think its just golf drivers! I have found since owning my Scirocco, several "boy racer types" coming far too close behind me, sitting there, annoying the hell out of me because it is dangerously close and I am unable to see their number plate, then flooring it past me in unsuitable places. The funnyist thing ever was an over the top pimped VW Corrado, chucking out loads of smoke from the back- hilarious

Haha reading these comments make me laugh because they are all so true!! Near enough everyday I get into some sort of race from people trying to prove points. I notice as well that if I'm in the fast lane I always get drivers pull out from the middle lane to come behind me even when there's nothing in front of them in the first place so deffo not trying to overtake or anything just fancy coming behind me and getting close, so I slow down and then speed off :-) all VW drivers get a bit aggy when im next to them I think. Weirdos.

I've had a lot less to be honest than my previous cars.
Although a 1.2 mini did try to race me the other day. Wow that thing was slow.

Re: Do Sciroccos aggravate golf drivers?
Had another Roc driver come up behind me last weekend quite close, I pulled over as it was only a 40mph limit (and I was doing 40), but he was way over and driving quite erratically I thought. His car did not look that good, not so well looked after.

I'm not sure the racy types get the idea of 'coupe' and have the wrong idea about what might be going on in our heads, but being sporty we show up on the radar

Re: Do Sciroccos aggravate golf drivers?
I had some guy in an R32 trying it on, he obviously didn't believe the APR stg2+ badge on the boot was real
Re: Do Sciroccos aggravate golf drivers?
have to admit i never really had an issue with the roc as it always got a positive reaction, in reality most GTI drivers tend to be enthusiasts
if i was pressing on in my Mk6 GTI it seemed to attract people who woke up, generally not VW types, i think colour does come into play as my wife's cars have been black and now night blue and are a little more discreet
the 7R is attracting those who were probably at the Fast Show at Santa Pod and good luck to them if they want to be upside down in a ditch, having encountered a tuned ST it did put a smile on my face as what is lacked in talent was out weighed by his stupidity
i don't think some people understand the stakes when you get it wrong and often the consequences and would benefit from having to change your underwear after having a high speed scare on a circuit
