Car Shampoo
Hi,
I've been using Autoglym Shampoo Conditioner for years, its a very good product and cleans your car very well....................However, I just wish it foamed up more and as a result, I seem to use far too much each time I wash my Roc.
Does anybody know or have used an equally good PH neutral car shampoo/conditioner which foams up well (meaning you don't have to use much)?

Re: Car Shampoo
Car chem 1900:1 is what you want.
I have used quite a few different shampoos and it is the best by far.
Auto finesse lather new formula is good as well.
Or gtechnic gWash
Value for money though it's car chem

Re: Car Shampoo
i seldom disagree with Devi, he is my Go To Guy - that said in my experience after proper prep just about any shampoo will do - even yes even Fairy Liquid if you want to strip your LSP despite the reality of the salt content contained within Nanette Newmans favourite !
i have used Zymol, AutoGlym, Chemical Guys, Muc Off Ubershine, Car Chem, Valet Pro and Power Maxxed (G-techniq next on my list thanks to Devil) - since i got the bug and to be honest most of these are pretty effective, slippery and cleansing enough if you Snow foam (such fun) or TRF (see my previous thread) (TFR useful in case you don't have time to piss about or its too feckin cold)!
Maybe i've not found the ideal solution (pun intended) but nothing has stood out since i started getting clean - all have been good some have had the extra smell advantage(uber VP) if you do a decent TFR, such as power maxxed (sorry Devil but this beats AF Citrus Power into a cocked hat will PM you pictures of my transporter to make point) ) it pretty much obviates the need for a separate wash TBH unless really dirty in which case break out th Snow Foam and TBM and have yourself some fun
whatever you do enjoy it - especially as the days are getting longer
RH
Quick ninja edit though i bet WD got there first - have you tried squirting your pressure washer into your bucket - makes a hell of a difference !

Re: Car Shampoo
there is so many different views on shampoos not everyone will agree. i personally like a really slick shampoo that cleans really well and greats lots of suds. car cem does this perfectly. also it the scent can be tailored to your choice. and when used at its 1900:1 dilution ratio its got to be one of the best value for money shampoos on the market. when you consider 5 litres can be bought for £26.
RH
regarding your post about pw TFR.
this has got a heck of alot good feedback recently on detailing world , and in some cases the pictures posted look like it has left the car 95% clean. but does it really clean to the extent that it could replace a proper wash. i cant see it myself but then i havent used it. i need to try some of this at some point. i personally really rate af citrus power so long as you have a pressure it works fantastic so thats a big statement haha. not that i dont doubt you. you are like the master yoda of detailing after all.

Re: Car Shampoo
RH,
Yes your right, using a pressure washer to foam up your car shampoo is very effecting. The problem I find with Autoglym shampoo is that even after doing this, it doesn't stay foamed up for long, meaning you have to repeatably do it throughout the wash.
TBH I'm quite happy with my prewash (snow foam) that I'm using but just want an equally good pH shampoo/conditioner (to Autoglym) that naturally foams up more in the bucket and about the same price (not cheap rubbish).
There are so many websites like cleanyourcar.com with contradictive reviews on products, which is why I've stuck with the old faithful (Autoglym). I now just want to try something different.
I am a bit OCD when it comes to keeping my Roc looking good but I do love standing back and looking at the results of a bit of hard work (bit sad maybe I know!).

Re: Car Shampoo
I haven't used autoglym shampoo so I can't comment on it. But there is quite a lot of people on dw who did use it and have moved on to better shampoos like car chem, auto finesse lather, gwash, dodo juice shampoos etc. All because they found them to work much better than autoglym. They all clean better, foam better and are slicker so the wash mitt just glides across the paint instead of dragging.sciroccorich wrote:RH,

Agree with whitedevil on the CarChem stuff!
I've only used the 800:1 shampoo but going by how good it is, the 1900:1 sounds even better.

I had to give up Autoglym for the same reason - felt like i was just washing the car with water. I use Meguiars Gold Class which does the trick for me

Re: Car Shampoo
Sorry just seen these new threads
WD - yep TRF has just cleaned an ST that probably hasn't seen an incredisponge ever, utterly ingrained with all manner of crap and a once over with TFR, quick wash with MucOff Uber and a dry and spritz with GDUUDJ and it looks like a new pin (or at least something i would drive)
As its a works car i didn't go mental just an hour and my trusty Karcher got the job done. On a clean car like yours TFR spray once a week and a pressure wash off should stop the need for an actual wash until all that nasty salt has buggered off the roads & the evenings allow us to clean after work !
On a dirty car its still very necessary to wash with a bucket (or 2) & mitt/noodle but you won't break a sweat doing it nor will your mitt/noodle look like a hippo afterwards
I used AG for years and still have some in the cupboard out back - it looked after Elmer my 8v Cupra Ibiza for nearly 13 years as well and he looks pretty damned good to this day (a friend has him now). Its quality cannot be denied nor the fact that its recommended by Aston Martin.
That said since getting my Roc I've been experimenting with various cleaning processes and products. PowerMaxxed TFR is fantastic, I've also tried the shampoo which is both very slick and sudsy enough to withstand 15 minutes outside in the cold while I get the TFR and Iron Out /X done (On Mrs H's Mazda 3 - which does look like a plasterers radio after a week at various stables). Their stuff has impressed me as capable, economic and inexpensive and their customer service is outstanding, second to none. Email Wayne and he will likely get back to you with 15 minutes.
That said I haven't tried it all yet TFR is a direct comparison to Citrus Power, maybe i dint apply the CP properly but it certainly never left me not needing to wash Walter.
Also while I'm jabbering and recommending stuff I do use Gary Deans Ultimate Use Detail Juice on the recommendation of the Junkman (He don't fix the funk y'all).
This is expensive stuff but frugal - an 8oz bottle cost just shy of £35 delivered but it only takes 0.75ml per litre to make a fantastic spritz, water spot remover and clay lube. Ive made 6-7 litres of the stuff for me and a pal and it hasn't dented the bottle content at all. I also use Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer and this is magnificent as a last stage spritz to get rid off any fluff, dust particles or smears. The finish is sublime and looks like the car has just been fully waxed - seriously This is £12.95 a bottle (750ml i believe) and I have used pretty much half a bottle in less than a month - cheaper but less frugal - horses for courses i guess
You will either find something you like (based on use, price, availability, smell or other varied reasons) or you will tart around various brands and products until you establish a kit that works for you. This is my preferred method and right now i have a weekly routine that covers PM (TFR) Chemical Guys shampoo / MO Uber, GD's Detail Juice, SonaxBSD, Iron X & Bouncers Wax (for my silver Roc and Soft Fusso KOG dark for Mrs H's Mazda) all recommended highly over at DW and all researched as working for me over the past winter.
I'm still gutted that Werkstat is kaput but have acquired CarLack LLS and Complete but am awaiting longer warmer days to give it a try which will undoubtedly follow a full clay (Bilt Hamber) and a paint clean & gloss (Prima Amigo)
Enjoy the sun guys - get your polishing towels out !

I'm definitely going to try some of this pw tfr at some point but won't be anytime yet As I have enough gear as it is. I also use sonax bsd and I love it. Fantastic quick detailer that gives sealent like protection.Roc Hopper wrote:Sorry just seen these new threads

I want something to use on mine before I wash it. Not got a pressure washer anymore so would some tfr put on with a sprayer then hosed off do the trick to remove most of it? The cars not filthy, just mainly along the bottom & up the back

Re: Car Shampoo
That's exactly what TFR will do Shaun - the power maxxed is (I'm sure you've seen my review) spectacular
On a decent clean finish just use 100ml of TFR per litre in a pump action (hozelock or similar) sprayer then after 5 mins spray with a hose as I did today on my SVS - spotless cleaning no touching paint ! The was it should be !
