Windshield Scratches and Quality Issues

Post by rhcp128 »

About a month or so ago after 3 days of rain I discovered that the windshield of my roc had an elliptical scratch that follows the path of the wiper on the driver side... Today another one came up! I am so angry!

Are really VW windows so easy to scratch?!?! Have any of you had any similar experience... I am really bummed out.

In the first 5000 miles I have had the following issues:
1. Cover of brake pedal almost came of while I was driving!
2. A few rattles in the cabin.
3. The cover of the handbrake came of
4. The speedometer is showing 150 km/h and my navigator is showing 130 (I tried the nav in other cars and it's like 3-4 km/h of MAX!)
5. Consumption is really of from the VW figures (seems most of the people with 2.0 TSI are having better consumption!!!)
6. The wiper problem many are having (good luck driving in rain above 100 km/h!)
7. When I brake above 120/130 km/h the car pulls to the right like crazy

They solved 1 a few weeks back and I have the car booked to go to the service for everything else in 2 weeks, but seriously if it's having all these problems after so little time god knows what will happen in say 20k km or 50k.

I am really disappointed otherwise it's a great car but I didn't expect this from VW! I' seriously considering getting rid of it and ordering a new one but i'll lose like 4-5 thousand euros because some a******* didn't put this one together right :(

rhcp128 sorry to hear of your experience, whilst I have had a few issues (all resolved my my dealer), none of them has made me as angry as you! The only one I have that is similar to yours is the car diving to one side under heavy breaking at speed, it does get quite twitchy thats for sure! :eyepop: I would suggest that before you just get rid of the 'Roc, talk to your delarer or draft an email to the VW Customer Services describing the issues that you have, and give them every effort to resolve them for you. It may not be sorted over night - but give them the chance so that you can enjoy your car again fella.
No Scirocco now - Just a black '57 Plate Black Jetta!

in my first few days of owning i put the wipers on only to find i have a scratched windscreen on the passenger side. I couldn't believe that something had become trapped under the wiper to mark the glass but how do you prove it?

I know that's what pisses me of. I'm sure that the scratching has something to do with the wipers not working well... also because the scratches are perfect arcs! That is what really pisses me of!

Just washed mine today and noticed that my windscreen is covered with scratches too. As with the other posters, they appear to be perfect arcs from the windscreen wipers. Does seem rather strange that it seems to scratch so easily, especially as i've only had the thing for 2 months. I haven't experienced this degree of scratching with any other car i've had and makes me worried about what its going to look like after 3 years!
