£439 service plan quote with VW yay or nay?

Post by 3t3p »

Car is due a service this March so popped into Inchcape VW Manchester (near old Trafford) today.

Lady serving me was very pleasant.

She quoted me £439 for a Major Service, Minor Service and one MOT.

If you add up these things separately you save just under sixty quid.

So far I usually go for full VW service history as it is reassuring to myself and future buyers.

I intend to keep the car for another 2-3yrs and wonder how relevant VW stamps are to someone coming looking for an R...?

Do I stand to save much going independent?
Will the work be better?

Any recommendations for the North West?

I am coming to the end of my last service pack, which I think was around £400 - I got Major, minor and an MOT too. I see it has gone up since then!!

tbh, it's a lot to cough up at once isnt it?! I suspect service prices will go up too, so if you think the saving is substantial for you, take it!

I dont know if I will be taking another service pack this time :/

To be clear it wasn't a lump sum I was looking at it was direct debit payments.

VAG Technik in Eccles, Manchester do interim 'aka minor' services for £130 (VW £150) and a full service 'aka Major' for £170 vs VW £299.

Cambelt and water pump too is £310 vs £360 with VW.
