Goodbye my lover

Post by littlendr »

Sad to say the day is here when I am leaving the Scirocco community.

I thought in my last 10 months as an owner I would give my run down on my time (if you are interested - I doubt you will be!!)

My mode: 2.0 TDI - 177PS R-Line - Deep Black

Pros:

Excellent MPG
Good torque in low revs - as expected
Lovely side view
Excellent cruiser
Rare-ish, and occasionally got some glances! (rare i admit...)

Cons:

Visibility - this seriously irked me the last few months. I know all cars have pillar problems but the scirocco seems worse than all I've been in.
It is so low that almost any car higher than a standard sports cars is blinding - and I'm 6 foot 5 and high up in the car. My fault for buying, I know, but again very annoying during the winter!!
DSG box, this is both a pro and a con. The box itself is fine, although seems very clunky the longer I've had it, and.....
Comfort/Normal/Sport - All 3 seem to be poor over time. Comfort is fine for motorway but seems almost laughable anywhere else. Normal/Sport I'm sure in the years to come it will be compulsory to note down whether you ever use these settings when applying for health insurance. My teeth are almost out now - guess the 19 alloys don't help.

It has been a nice car to drive, and is a fantastic cruiser, but coming from a Focus ST I need something a bit sportier, and the diesel is disappointing me now, as such I am taking order of a new golf R (manual this time).

Have fun all you 'Roccers. I'll still wave if I see any of you about!!

Going from an ST to a diesel was always going to leave you feeling like you miss something sporty wise
