Branded Remap or Custom Remap?

Post by RavG99 »

Evening Guys and Gals

Just wondering about remaps as I wanted to remap the R very soon but really stuck on where and what remap.

I know most stage one remaps have virtually the same gains in power and torque but does it matter where and who I get the remap done from.

Reason I ask is I can get Revo for £600. And get a custom remap for £250/£300. What do you guys think on the topic

Any advice or info would be much appreciated

Branded. better peace of mind. They test them thoroughly to make sure there is no issues with the map. Would never touch a custom map

the term custom is often used in the loose sense of the word, the EA113 have been around for ages now, usual suspects revised maps a couple of years ago, only real custom tuner is rtec who are now working on cdl versions

depends on what you want, you are buying into dealer networks with the main players

So is custom maps alright to use due to the engine being around for some time now?

A custom tune from a descent tuner only, I have data logged some custom tunes from non reputable tuners and the logs have been poor although the car seems to drive OK. Best type of tune is a custom tune from someone like rtech, if you don't fancy that then go for a generic like Apr or revo.

go for somewhere who has a rolling road to custom tune the maps on site, people may say go for reputable names but at the end of the day the likes of revo etc are only based on other identical cars to yours, it isn't always the best map for your engine considering the parameters of said map are based on engines of the same type, personally id always go for reputable companies with their own dynos so they can custom map to your engine specifically, rather than a base map of engines they consider the same as yours

Go with Revo. Plenty of  on here.

Try calling them and seeing if they can do you a deal with the SPS dongle included. Be honest with them that you want a trusted brand and that you are tight on cash. It won't hurt to ask.

OR wait until GTI International (or I support any other major show) and get a deal. I did myself. Got the map and SPS for around £525 if I recall.

http://www.thettshop.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; carried mine out on behalf of Revo.

Maybe ask them?
