Hi , 1st post so please be gentle. I have a 2010 2.0 TSI DSG which I've had for 4 weeks after selling my mk 5 gti which I owned for the best part of 6 years.
My Roc has been to the dealer today for MOT and although it's passed it has got a list of advisories as follows
Windscreen has slight scratches £298 - not really bothered as I can barely see them
Engine oil leak £51 to investigate - more of a concern !
Front discs scored / worn 65% & pads required £249 - obviously will need to do at some point
Rear discs scored / worn 80% & pads required. £249 - obviously need doing pretty soon
NSR shock absorber has slight misting of oil £289 - don't know if this is urgent ?
NSF wheel has a slightly distorted bead rim £ 433 - can't say I've noticed it
I still have extended VW warranty on the car which I am planning to renew next week ( mainly as I have heard horror stories of cam tensioners and DSG failures - blame the internet ? )
My question is would you get the above done ? should I be concerned ( shock & wheel ) or are VW being overly cautious ?
Would you keep the dealer history or try an approved VW specialist ?
Would you extend the VW warranty ?
I'm not the most mechanically minded so I thought I'd ask the experts so to speak
Thanks in advance

If this was carried out by a dealer then I would get a second opinion at a good reputable Indy. I've seen this plenty of times, where most of the time the dealer is looking for work.secret agent wrote:Hi , 1st post so please be gentle.
