Bit Worried........

Post by imitebeurda »

I know a lot of you won't like this, and thats partly why I havent posted them up so far!!

When modifying cars I have always tried to do something that people will look at and think that it "might" be a tuned special edition or something OEM. At the end of the day "personalising" and uniqueness are what modifying is all about.

Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail miserably, but sure, hey, when modifying cars it is all a matter of taste, and as long as you (the owner) like it thats the main thing. So here goes. I originally saw the Sportec SC350 scirocco sometime ago, I liked the look, but wanted to personalise it.

(here is the sportec car)

I reckon all the mods I have done have taken the roc to circa 250bhp, therefore I changed it to SC250, a few other subtle changes and here you go, my version, a nightmare to fit, given all the wee bends and twists in the bodywork, circa 5 hours it took rocko (craig) to fit............a thousand apologies again Craig   .........personally I like it, but look forward to hearing your opinions. I think the matt black vinyl beside the matt vw badges, against the red looks cool. Also on the original the SC250 is cut out of the vinyl, but a) that is a noghtmare to line up and b) I think the white stands out so much more.....anyway here you go...........

Looks good, very retro the side strips are simular to the Mark 1 Golf GTI.

I could do with those bonnet strips - would hide my huge stonechip nicely......

just noticed the stripes are not on the front bumper but are on the rear? for me i'd change the white lettering to red to match the car or lose the lettering all together

Yep, when it was done the first time it went over the front bumper, however it comes down just at the corner of the headlight, there is a nasty little curve there and no matter how hard they tried they just could not get it to sit right. The Sportec SC350 has it over the front bumper but TBH it looked crap and there were folds and bubbles. In the end we had to end it at the bumper. As for the lettering, originally it was lazer cut out of the vinyl (same as the sportec car) and whil it looked quite good the lettering and especially the S on the front quarter panel did not stand out. Also it was a nightmare to get it to line up correctly and we always ended up with 1 set of letters not sitting right. Also that way we could not change/remove the letters. It was agreed the best thing to do was go with a solid stripe and then add the lettering on afterwards. We tried red but could not get a perfect colour match. In the end we agreed on white as we didnt have the colour issues, it stands out and is much more visible, and when the car gets to 300bhp I can change it................. :D :D :D

I'm not usually a fan of stripes on cars (this is Taryn, not Jim), but I actually really like these! The cars look great!! :)

I disagree - the white makes the lettering stand out. Looks good as it is.
