tax and mot
ok so I've been really busy at the moment , and have managed to let my MOT run out , and now i can't tax my car because it doesn't have an MOT , its parked off the road right now but whats the crack with getting it in for its MOT? am i gonna have to trailer it ? I've been told its fine to drive a car with no tax and test just as long as you are en route to have it MOT'd , anyone ?

I'm pretty sure this is correct.robb wrote:I've been told its fine to drive a car with no tax and test just as long as you are en route to have it MOT'd , anyone ?
In fact, this is from the DVLA site
If your MOT has expired
You can’t drive your vehicle on the road if the MOT has expired. You could be prosecuted if caught.
The only exception is if you’ve already booked an MOT and are driving your vehicle to the test centre.

Yes, you can legally drive it to a pre-arranged MOT appointment at a MOT testing station. Just make sure you make an appointment in advance and have the details handy in the unlikely event you get stopped.
For future reference you can get your car MOT done up to 30 days in advance of the expiry date and the expiry.date is 12 months from original expiry date so you don't lose anything. Effectively a 13 month MOT:-)

Yes that's correct guys, as long as it's booked for an MOT you can drive it too and from the mot station :-)

Re: tax and mot
Don't forget insurance - if you have no MOT then your insurance company may not pay any claim. Check with them before making the trip to the MOT testing centre.

better late than never mark haha but i didn't consider that, however i got to the centre fine and passed with no advisories
still a little apprehensive about the fact i dont have a tax disc yet but it'll display on ANPR as having tax I'm just not leaving it parked on the road anywhere to be noticed
