Some people just don't care!
Me worrying about putting blemishes in the paint while cleaning.
Then someone comes along and takes all the paint off and leaving a nice dent!
I will be heading to the garage tomorrow for a quote!
Anyone got any idea about what sort of price range im looking in?
Im guessing i would need to get it done or it will rust?
I'd imagine that wouldn't rust for a long while if at all. It's not down to bare metal. Our ding guy at work said that mins on my swage will be a bit of a ball ache to get perfect. If it's being painted it could be easier & more cost effective to get the body shop to just skim a bit of filler over it. I've done that on an a4 front wing today [THUMBS UP SIGN]
Rough luck that it appears to be on a body 'fold', otherwise it would be simply a tap out. Is that a scuff at the bottom of the wheel arch as well? I figure you're be looking at around 200, if they've got to repaint.
Feel your pain and frustration. My car went in today for repairs to the door dings and sill, left by what appears to have been a pavement cyclist. Aside the cost (£280), it's doubly frustrating to have to lose the vehicle for a number of days.
Get it done (and hopefully get your neighbour to pay!), and then move on.
That is really unlucky and so careless of your neighbour, I would hope they would just volunteer the damage. I had a similar issue years ago (different car) in a shared driveway, a visitors door clouted mine very hard and caused a small dent.
It was odd as my neighbours never mentioned it to me after that, I think they were very embarrassed after their visitor caused the damage.

There is a ding further up and a massive scuff just above the wheel arch, is that the bit you mean?
The large scuff also has some rippling indentation the door must have dragged down the car aswell.
It was very windy yesterday so I think it blew away from him...
He should be home soon will see what he says!

Ah, okay - think it will be nearer 300.
You do wonder how the hell it happens sometimes , though the possible reason you provide sounds plausible.
The first few days living with it are the most painful
Went round he looked very shy and quiet but said he doesn't know anything about it...
Btw do car doors swing up slightly when opened? Lets say that when the top of the door is closed it is 2cm higher when opened? like the hinges are at a slight angle?
I guess in the sense, if you open the door, then get out of the car - the door will be slightly higher given that there is less weight in the car (from the suspension travel). If somebody was very heavy that could make a bit of a difference.
Being hit hard enough to cause that damage, there will be evidence on the culprit's car, so should be easy to confirm if it was in fact your neighbour's car.
Had a quick look and found this on the suspected car.
Defo some black on there! Also looks like its had an attempted quick touch up (Not a very good one).
But he does work at a car garage that has a body shop.... Just wish I had spotted it yesterday before he could have got it done!
Measured from the ground its about 2cm lower then the dent on my car... But the parking space next to might be 2cm higher!?
Only way to tell is to line his car up exactly and have a look!
Edit (and its a 14 plate car so likelihood of that being something else is much lower)
I'd say it must be from that. I know it's not much of a positive but if you do go down the paint route then at least you won't have to have the door blended being black
Yeah There's no need to blend black,it's one of the few 'edge to edge' colours we do at work. Even less need for a blend of the work needed goes little past the half way area of the panel
Thanks for the info Shaun.
I know the layers on the car go
Metal-Primer-Paint-Clear Coat
So what can i see in my pictures? As its dark but not the same colour as the paint.
Has he managed to scrape off the clear coat and the paint but leave the primer on?
