RNS 510 Bluetooth

Post by smet92 »

Hi guys

I have an issue with connecting my phone to the Bluetooth in the car. It's been working for 4 months of owning it however the other night I've lost the kufatec fiscon option from the mfd. Also if I press the phone button on the head unit it just mutes the music, and in the setup menu the phone option has gone. My phone can still find the Bluetooth in the car and even says it's connected however I now can't access my phone book, play music or make calls.

Any ideas would be great :)

Has anyone been playing with VCDS or have you upgraded any firmware? Sounds to me like the CAN gateway has forgotten that you have bluetooth installed, or failing that a connection has come loose.

I'd recommend getting someone to check the car with VCDS to check that the telephone module is there and enabled.

Cheers for the reply :)

Nope nothing has changed regarding the firmware which makes me think it could possibly be a loose wire maybe.

I took it to volkswagen to book it in for a service anyway and asked about it. They tried looking for the Bluetooth module (usually under the drivers Seat) but it wasn't there apparently it's at the back of the head unit? What you say about the car not thinking it has Bluetooth seems very likely.

Most people install the fiscon in a non standard place, either behind the climate controls or on the steering column via the right coin tray/box near the drivers door. Worth checking connections if you can see it, but I think VCDS is your best bet

I will have a look later to see if I can see it around the steering column. Volkswagen have said it's 96 pound for the diagnostic which I thinks a bit steep. So hopefully I can find the cause :)

Depending where you're located you might be able to ask for local VCDS owners on the forum, in return for the odd beer token :) good luck with the investigation!

Quick update.

I've managed to locate the Bluetooth module behind the climate control looks like it used to be stuck to something and has fallen down. All the wires seem to be in good condition and the connections seem fine. I'm guessing this means it's a software issue.

Hi guys.

I took my car into volkswagen for the oil change and so they could see if they can find the problem with my Bluetooth.

They basically told me my car doesn't have telephone preparation. Am I right in thinking that someone with vagcom could tick the box saying i have phone preparation and it's as simple as that?
