Non genuine anti-freeze

Post by lloydie63 »

So I take my Scirocco for it's second service as part of the service plan and all went well except for the fact the desk guy pointed out " you have non genuine anti-freeze (blue) it should be pink" fair enough but...I've never touched the anti freeze in 2 years of ownership and you carried out a service on my car last year and never pointed this out i replied. A moment of silence then "Ahh must of over looked it last year" So I don't know why I have non genuine anti-freeze but will the blue stuff I currently have (where-ever this has come from) cause a problem and will it cause a problem with any warrenty issue I may have in the future? I had an extended warrenty The car was bought secondhand from a VW dealership.

Blue won't do the car any harm, blue is usually a 2 year coolant (needs changing after two years) where as pink is 5 years.

I wouldn't worry about warrenty if you bought as approved used. They are supposed to do like a 200 point check before they sell to you, so make sure it's documented, although I don't think you will have any problems.
