When I got the car on Monday it had 9 miles on it, it now has over 200. This is my 9th golf and I owned the Scirocco GT diesel and the Scirocco R.

I drove the GTI from Warrington to Yorkshire yesterday and on the motorway it was smoother and quieter but the power difference is quite apparent but the ACC is something else, I love it!

When coming back last night i gave it full belt on the corners around the back roads of Yorkshire and it holds the road like its glued there. I actually couldn’t believe how well it sticks to the roads and its noticeably different to how the Roc R goes round corners but I guess that’s why I got the Performance Pack addition. I drove the standard GTI and didn’t like its skittishness (if that’s a word)

So in a nutshell I like the Golf but the R is nicer to drive and is more involved. If the Roc is a 10/10 the Golf GTI is about an 8.5.

I will miss the R because its a stunning car but that’s not to say I wont get another in future if they make enough of the right tweaks.

Congrats on your new car. Thinking of going the same way as you once the Golf PP is launched. will be interested in hearing of your experience with the new car. Will you be migrating over to the golf forums?
