EA888
After making tons of research, i think im going for the EA888 engine. According to Roccoperia, the new R, which will debut in 2014, will use EA888 engine. The question is, on what month will it come out?

Re: EA888
The current 2.0 TSI (non R model) is the EA888 engine and has always been. There are a few variants of the EA888 produced. Only the R model on the Scirocco used the EA113.
The release date of a facelifted R model with the EA888 has not been published yet.

Re: EA888
I'm interested on the scirocco R that will use EA888. The output should be similar to Golf mk7 R

Yes, I know the one you.mean but the release date has not been released.Crucifixzz wrote:I'm interested on the scirocco R that will use EA888. The output should be similar to Golf mk7 R
I would expect the output on the Scirocco to be slightly less than the MK7 R at around 280PS (276bhp) as seen on the up and coming Leon Cupra

Re: EA888
Is it worth waiting scirocco r with EA888 engine to come in 2015? I understand that EA888 is a better engine for tuning than the high output EA113 because with the comparable setup between these two engines, EA888 produces higher output rating.

Re: EA888
Its not worth it at all. they wont use the new MK 7 chassis. and even interior. facelift and some extra BHP is not convincing to replace with the current scirocco.Crucifixzz wrote:Is it worth waiting scirocco r with EA888 engine to come in 2015? Re: EA888
In standard form it's likely as said to be 280 ps, about 15bhp increase. From pictures and leaked details expect new lights and new bumper covers. That's about it.
Oh and you say should you wait, if you want new , you have no choice, otherwise it's used.

Re: EA888
Now I have two options;
1. Mapped EA888
2. Wait for new R
I can no longer find R in my country. T-T

Re: EA888
The normal EA888 unit is significantly different to the high output (mk7 Golf R / S3) version. Software only mapping will not get you to 300PS you need to look at stage 2 software to get there and supporting hardware.
Power is less than half the picture IMHO to usefully use the power you need to sort the suspension and brakes if considering highly mapping a normal GT.

Re: EA888
what I know is the turbo is different, R has K04, bigger intercooler, and etc. Is there any difference between mk7 golf r and 2.0 tsi that doesn't allow 2.0 tsi to resemble one of mk7?b0rk wrote:The normal EA888 unit is significantly different to the high output (mk7 Golf R / S3) version. Re: EA888
block, crankcase, crankshaft, pistons, cylinder head and turbo seriously.
The 221kw block is PN 06K100032A vs PN 06K100032F for the 155kw block, I could go on list the PN's for each major component but TBH there's no point it appears very little is shared with the normal 155kw engine. The pictures on etka suggest the high output engine is a major evolution of the design not just a map and minor tweaks, these appear much more extensive than the differences between AX/BW and BW/CD versions of the EA113 unit.
