THIRD BRAKE LIGHT REPLACEMENT

hatchback brake light not working, wiring ok. cannot replace lcd lighting strip. vw main dealer will sell me complete brake light
for £47 but suprise suprise will not fit it. it has to be a body shop 12 miles away.,seemingly the top of the spoiler has to be removed.
a bill well over £100 pound , am i fed up . i feel that something is not right here. does anybody have information to the contrary. :

Thanks to peacock8 post changed my 3rd rear brake light today it took roughly 40 mins.Part cost £50.14 local VW stealership wanted £200 to fit 2.5 hours labour probably 2 out of 10 difficulty. Thanks
