Iphone 5S Bluetooth connection - no music

Post by DanGT210TSI »

Hi,

I have just purcashed a 2011 Scirocco and I am having issues playing music from my Iphone 5S.

The bluetooth connection woreks fine for taking calls but doesn't seem to play the music - any ideas? Is there something I've not set up right?

Thanks

Does it show on the RCD/RNS screen that the track is playing?

^^ Don't quite understand your post, so I will go on assumptions of what you mean.
Bluetooth track listing on screen is only available on some BT modules, and even then, your RCD/RNS has to be compatible with showing track info. Older RCD units don't tend to display track info.

To plug your iPhone 5/5s into the MDI, you need an apple lightening connector - 30 pin converter. It has to be the official one, I don't think 3rd party bootleggers have managed to master the art of audio inclusion into their adapters

Not sure what the difference between "premium" and "basic" is... However, can you get the part number for your BT module? it's located under the driver/passenger's seat (I never know which one, because mine is installed differently)

I spoke to VW in Nuneaton today, early next year there will be a new lead for the mdi for the iPhone 5 5s, said it'll be about £45 ish ?

So let's wait & see ?

Fuck paying VW £45 for a useless-anywhere-else cable, mad that they charge so much. I've got a 5S and have the MDI 30 pin iPhone cable, then the 0.2m lightning adapter (still a rip off but £25 from Argos but still) and that works fine.

Have you tried the lightning converter?

I have the official apple lightening - 30 pin adapter connector and that works fine. It's £35 I think, which is dear - got it for half the price, probably why I have it.

My bluetooth streaming is better and more consistent with my 5s, so I tend to use that
