What's your goal? Just stage 1 tuning or more? If you're only going for stage 1 all dealers are almost the same, APR, Revo, GIAC.

If your looking for hp im at 300WHP and 400WNM. Can't really say how much again from stock car as i didn't dyno'd it. But stage 1 gave 274whp and with stage 2 another 26whp gain measured at a fourwheel dyno (Mustang).

Do you gain something in power from changing the exhaust? Or it's just for the sound? And if it is for the sound, how do you choose the one you want, without being able to hear it beforehand?

If you want power then just swap the downpipe and keep the rest of the exhaust standard. If you want to irritated on every journey and grow a hatred for motorways but have a nice looking tailpipe then change the whole system for something louder.
Ok I'm 42 and not really in to loud noises anymore but I've been there and done that and it isn't worth it.
RS5, Scirocco R. You can never have enough R's

So, it's the downpipe that does the magic, the rest is just for looks and sound...

And I agree about the noise thing. I don't want to end up with a car that makes more noise than a 30 years old truck. That's why I was asking how people choose these exhausts.
If I can't hear it first, I ain't buying a shit.

Don't get me wrong, I understand people who like loud cars. I just think, owning just one car, one should think a little about comfort and stuff.

I used to run a milltek cat back but the drone was just too much for me.

I now run a full system with a 200cell high-flow cat made by BCS powervavlve. Its the best exhaust I've ever owned with their valved system as its dead quiet off boost (for example on the motorway) but it also makes a lovely noise on boost. you should look into them.
