So, I bought my "Roc" last week, it 2010 tsi dsg. I have an RCD510 the white MFD but no bluetooth. Anyone have any recommendations as to what bluetooth module will offer the most, I also intent on upgrading to the RNS510 eventually so it'll need to be compatible with that also.
Which swiftly bring me onto what RNS510's I should avoid? I was going to go for a version C with 40GB HDD.
ive also just checked under my passenger seat and no spare cables, just the usual for heated seats etc. I presume. Has anyone ever managed to retrofit bluetooth under these circumstances?
Yes, I have managed to retrofit. There is quite a bit of detail on the website you can check, try searching the forum. If you have any problems/questions, let me know.
If you are anywhere near me, I can help with the install
Options: multifunction steering wheel, fogs, 18" alloys; DAB; XDS activated, DRLs reset, lock beep activated; indicator repeat set to 4; covered cup holder, rear seat 12v socket installed. metal pedals, 210 Golf GTi also in the stable. Scirocco gone - miss it. Polo GTI now.
Salsajoe thank you I certainly try, I imagine there pricey though!
Regarding the Bluetooth module, does anyone know where I can take my car and they'll be able to fit the relevant bluetooth module, or if I buy the module, is there anywhere recommended with knowledge/experience with installing these. I live in Essex! And far too heavily handed to so myself!
Yeah I was looking into Fiscon as an option. I've asked two local dealers and they quoted about £1000!! One didn't even know you could buy the bluetooth module seperately which was reassuring ha! Think I may just brave it and buy a module and fit myself!
I think the 1000£ quote might be to install the Kenwood headunit + bluetooth.... I wonder what kind of bluetooth option they use with that (I have seen this on display at my local dealer).
As I've discovered over time, most dealers are not so clued up on all things Scirocco in some places.
I say buy the kit and fit yourself, however, do your research properly. I spent over a month gathering info on everything I needed to know, and viewing various guides on the internet. Funnily enough, I never once came across a scirocco guide for fitting the bluetooth - always Passat or Golfs.
It was my first time doing something like that, and it came out alright! I am sure if I can give it a go, so can you.
I have a guide you can follow - I sent it to one of the moderators, but I dont think it quite made it on the roccopedia.... It's rough, but you will get the main points. If you want, I can PM it to you - a bit worried about sticking it in a thread incase it has inaccuracies ://
Yeah that'd be great if you could. I have a close friend who's a real petrolhead and said he's taken many car dashes off so between the two of us I'm sure we can do it Ive also just bought an RNS 510 off ebay, I though if I'm taking the dash out I may as well do it all at once!
You've been a great help!
Im completely obsessed with the car now Ive got it lol How did you go about your VAGCOM Mods?
salsajoe wrote:Think about an RNS with DAB. Early ones did not have it.
Most of them don't have it!

Initially I did them for Dimexi - but since then he has got his own cable and is pretty self-sufficent! I am near Essex so if you need any Vagcom/VCDS help give me a shout - I did manage to install my own RNS510. Oh and I changed the dash surround for the piano black one to match the RNS trim too - looks so much better
I just ordered the piano black facia part from VW Harlow. part no. 1Q0 858 069 H... it makes a big difference IMHO.
Coding sometimes can be a bit fickle but it gets there in the end.... I could never ger my RNS to re-boot but after a couple of attempts at entering the coding all was well.
Ignore the 'compass module' - its to do with a US feature, not the RNS.
I only have a couple questions (and thats only because I'm a complete novice) I've ordered the rns510 and gps antenna. Is there anything else I'll need for the RNS for now. Bluetooth can wait for now as my bank balance has taken a hit of late haha
Ah! Nice move! I did it the other way round - got the BT first. Probably cos the RNS was over twice the cost of the whole BT kit.
For the RNS, what you need to note is where you will put the GPS antenna. Majority of people have put it below the vents in the centre console. There are about 2 - 4 torx screws to take out, and I am led to believe there is a gap where you can set the antenna.
Some people haven't managed to remove the centre vents (Re: Mark V), so he passed the antenna through the gap (to the left of the radio) that leads into the glove box, and positioned it in the manual space holder just above. He says that works fine, and that's definitely the easier solution, so whichever you choose is up to you.
P.S: How much did you pay for your RNS? and what version did you get?
I paid 440 for version C. No DAB but that didn't really bother me too much. Probably going to get the 7P6035730L Bluetooth kit as soon as and just install all together. Do kits generally come with everything needed?
Depends where you buy the kit. I bought mine from carsystems.pl and it came complete with wiring loom.
If you buy one that doesn't have a prepared wiring loom, you might have to do some splicing and soldering - this of course wont be a problem for you, given your profession
True but I hope to keep this as simple as possible
I'll try grab one off there... this may also seem like a silly question but does the car already have a mic fitted? Or do I need to install another as I would with the fiscon kit?
