I'm pretty sure that this was a prototype that was built before the current roc was released. I've seen pics from other angles. here's one...

I cant see the current roc being facelifted anytime soon, at least while demand is high (it's not exactly an impreza!). Maybe Q3 2011ish forthe next one?

That's a shopped impression of what the rocco was going to look like. The image is circa 2005.

Thank god they changed it! That looks boring like a lot of other VW's can.

I am sure I remember reading that VW had a different Scirocco almost ready to be launced, but some new big bod came in and ordered it to be re-designed. Not sure if thats true or not.

Yep. It was going to have the Iroc nose treatment but the new head thought it was too aggressive and ordered a redesign partly to soften it and partly to give it a more family VW look.

:? Your kidding arent you? the iroc was a gorgeous car! pity they toned it down into the scirocco or it would have become an instant future classic

Have to agree, I'd have loved the iroc front end. If this was the case i may have gone for green! I don't like it when beautiful concepts are designed but are toned down for mass appeal. Perfectly understandable though.

If I remember rightly the Iroc front end was changed because it was felt to be too close to the audi family look.
