Having to go away for awhile and leave my car unattended,I saw this gadget which although disconnects the battery has a minor cable with a fuse which goes to earth to trickle charge to maintain radio,immobiliser,and alarm.
It's called " Richbrook Dis-Car-Nect " battery Isolater.I first seen this in the early nineties,found a old magazine Volkswagen and Audi Driver dated 1993 and got it's correct designation. Great thing though the price then was £9.98 and still the same price now
Has any one used is using it and any thoughts please
Dave

I used one for several years on non canbus cars and they were very good.I don't see any reason for them not to work on the roc.but I now use a cetek for periods of non use as it keeps everything monitored & ready for use,but it is a good bit more expensive than the Discarnect.

My Roc sits outside for months at a time unused. I bought a solar powered charger that I was recommended on here. It suction cups to the inside of the windscreen and plugs into the OBD2 port. No tools required and will work with any car that has OBD2 (everything I'm likely to ever own).
12V VW Solar Panel/Battery Maintainer with OBD Plug
OEM Part Number 1C0 915 687D
Cord is approx. 5 feet long.
Manufactured by ICP Solar.
SPECS:
Max Power: 3.2W
Voltage at Max Power:: 18.8V
Current at Max Power: 170mA
A Bit of History:
Volkswagen was having issues a while back trying to keep electronics alive while shipping cars around the world, so they ended up including a solar panel that plugs into the OBD port to keep the batteries topped off.

Sounds good Paralla but I'm looking at security more than saving battery power cheers for your imput thoughParalla wrote:My Roc sits outside for months at a time unused. Re: Car Battery Isolater
Well got the Dis-Car-Nect, arrived in very quick time and is a very professional bit of kit,fitted it this afternoon very easy and quick to fit and works very well,the only warning lights that came on were the ESP and Steering wheel which only came on because the battery was disconnected,re-connect battery a quick run down the road soon cleared those lights
