Hello -

The VW SatNav does play DVD's, but vision only when stationary (by default). The MFD will display the speed in KM/H by default, I think you can use VCDS to change the display to get a larger 'mph' reading, but no - default is km.

Only the rns510 unit plays DVDs. So yes your lucky, I believe they also have a hard drive so you can store your music on that. That's correct it only displays km.. If you have vagcom you can set it to mph and have a big digital speedo on the mfd.

Thanks for the info fellas......yes i did find a 16g hard drive when i was checking out the features.
Not sure i would ever use the dvd player but its a bit of a bonus i guess..

On another note.......the led light in the drivers door mirror is broken and has water in it, is this a genuine vw part only or can you buy a aftermarket one ??????

in my MFD , i can change the units from the MFD itself, MPH/KMH , The tempreture also. in the setup , i think it is the 2nd option from buttom
regarding satnav, yes this is normal, you can play DVD's , But if you are planning to burn ur own and play them, it is little tricky regarding region.

This only changes the units within the trip computer and not the secondary km'h speed display.

The secondary km'h display is in lieu of not having km'h calibration marks on the main speedo and hence, why it's not easy to change, without VCDS.

Spot on Bob - it has to be changed with VCDS by altering the cars geographical setting from UK to RoW (Rest of World).

Out of interest, what else changes when you change it from UK to RoW?

I am also interested if RoW would change anything else, other than activate the 'big MPH digital speedo' on display, as I might do it when I get access to vagcom
I found this thread useful when looking up this topic
http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... lay#p69170" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There was another post where people were concerned it would change other things but there wasn't a conclusive answer.
Sorry if this deviates A bit from the original post!

I have never noticed any other changes apart from the MFD stuff (changed mine December 2012).
