Re: Engine warning light red low oil pressure light
Got the car back from VW today
not covered under warranty tho
They could not find anything wrong, they checked the sensor, switch, oil pressure, oil level, dump valve & wiring no faults recorded on the VW software very confusing! Could this have been a freak incident or could the remap have had something to do with it??? Remap only controls boost fuel timing and fuel amount how would this effect oil pressure :@ Im £68 down for the inspection but at least its proved nothing serious is going on!

Anything here about build up of oil deposits starving the Turbo?
http://www.justanswer.com/vw-volkswagen ... light.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or here about the dual sensor and over 2000 RPM switch. Perhaps requires a different quality oil.
http://vincewaldon.com/index.php?option ... &Itemid=28" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or here about Passat bonnet switch is the cause.
http://www.autoinsider.co.uk/problems/s ... oblem=4116" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Else try googling yourself. If you do find a fault I'd get the dealer to fix it for that £68 they robbed you of.

Re: Engine warning light red low oil pressure light
All these are more apparent on old cars, mines only done 20k so a build up of oil seems unlikely. The lights not on for now so fingers crossed she doesn't come back on, there is no strange noises or changes to the ride which rules out the top link. The last service was done by main dealer so I'd expect the oil quality to be bang on, il investigate the bonnet feed tomorrow!

Re: Engine warning light red low oil pressure light
I have limited knowledge as I'm no mechanic but from what I've came across it may be just a spark plug, a blocked fuel injector, or just the wiring loom to either of these or distributor cap. The TSI needs high revs to keep the injectors clean and really should run on 98 RON (I use 95 and 97 once each 3months or so). Others here will give you better advice but the ticking (injector) is louder than usual. I seen a test on Wheeler Dealers by putting the injectors 1 by 1 into plastic bottle to find any blocked. For them it was just the wiring loom as he swapped that blocked one onto another lead to test that to be sure.
The R eats plugs faster and is due at 4yrs. You may even get a fault reported on VCDS now so perhaps you could convince the dealer they missed something.

Re: Engine warning light red low oil pressure light
Ok I'm going to try another local dealer & I will say I wasn't happy with the other ones work! I could go changing 100's of things and still not find what's wrong need the experts to get to the bottom of this!

Since the advent of coilpacks, distributors have been confined into the realms of history.Macman wrote:... or distributor cap.

Re: Engine warning light red low oil pressure light
I had an independent mechanic come to look, he confirmed the noise is bad! He also took the oil filler cap off which one confirms we have oil at the top of the engine, but it struggled to tick over not good.
He's referred me to his mate who use to work for vw hopefully he has some answers! Could infect be the fuel injector who knows fingers crossed it dosn't cost too much

Re: Engine warning light red low oil pressure light
Not sure where you are based but I'd take it to a decent VAG independent used to dealing with modified cars to we what the issue is

I'm in Colchester Essex with the engine rattling as the above video shows I'm quiet reluctant to drive it far

Re: Engine warning light red low oil pressure light
Did you have an uprated fuel pump fitted? I would certainly be checking the HPFP cam for wear/damage.

No it's the standard pump, I've been advised it could be the cam follower or oil pump hopefully some digging tmoz we will find out thanks for the suggestions il put them all to the mechanic!

How can a air hose give you low oil pressure?

Re: Engine warning light red low oil pressure light
The loss in power if you read later on, possibly if that clip come off on the move the ecu picked up a fault and recognised it as low oil pressure with the car not running normal. Or potentially vw done this searching for the fault, all vws diagnostics say there was no problem with oil pressure.
The other possibility because we were on a long ish journey as the oil got hot it gets thinner and seen a drop in pressure I'm unsure any other ideas??

Re: Engine warning light red low oil pressure light
Ok, even Mozola corn oil would give you oil pressure enough to keep the light off even at high temperatures so you can discount that one.
The loose clip will be to blame for the loss of power but as for the "who is to blame" comment..... What type of clip is it? Unless you've bought a good quality jubilee clip then the majority of these hose clips available from eBay or your local motor factors are crap, they strip threads very easily as most people over torque them then when they are used a second time they end up jumping off the thread and coming loose.
There is no way the ECU will pick up a high pressure air hose and register it as an oil pressure problem, give it some credit, it knows much more about engines than you do!
Have you had the oil pressure checked mechanically to prove its ok?
