VW scirocco, my first and last VW...

Post by clflangan »

It saddens me to say that I have just sold my scirocco after a catalogue of disasters..

At 2.5 years old (just out of warranty), I had to replace the throttle valve.

A few months later, it was the flywheel and clutch...

At 3 years old, the speakers on the right side stopped working and most recently
the turbo adjuster packed up.

Das Auto indeed...

Never again!

Sorry to hear that. What are you replacing it with? Might of just had some bad luck. Vws are usually reliable.

Still you were lucky, mine with 3,5 years has already received a new engine (replaced with 40000km (25000 miles)), a new clutch, washer between clutch and the gear box, brake sensor (that almost made me crash at 150kmh), left wheel bearing and the backdoor latch. My luck was that I made an warranty extension, without that imagine the price that I would have paid for all of this, especcially the engine replacement. VW baahhhh

VW draw a fine line with their component failures. It'll either compel you to replace it for another new one, before the guarantee runs out (a good sales ploy), or it will dirve you away from the brand. I must admit that my 2 Sciroccos are the most reliable VWs I have owned. They've had a little bit of warranty work, but small potatoes next to my MK5 Golf that came before them. How can your car be out of warranty at 2.6 years? Did you hit the 60k miles limit by then or did someone have it for 6 months before you?
