No more ebay for parts!

Post by Macman »

Never again :shake:
Although I bought my Rocco R on ebay from a great dealer, I've only had trouble getting parts on there.
The first was to get a metal foot rest to match the DSG pedals on the RHD UK model.
I ordered one from Germany, then realized after my order than it wouldn't fit mine but they ignored all messages for a refund - even in German. I refused to accept the item from the postman and instructed them to return to sender. Had nothing back!
Don't go here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170970046260? ... 1497.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I then order a pair of Philips X-treme Vision H7 55w bulbs for cornering but they are no more whiter than the original yellows. Don't get these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261124560850? ... 1497.l2648" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Then I need a full set of Bosch Aero Twin wipers similar to my originals. When I got these they sent me a Contact rear as the Bosch was out of stock yet did not bother to ask my consent!
I now look at the front wipers to find the profile is not L-shaped but T-shaped!
They are stamped Bosch on the bracket but look the same design as SWF.
Are these a new design or counterfeit or has the seller swapped cheaper parts?

Like this but its not stamped SWF or other - just Bosch!

I too bought xtream vision AND blue visions afterwards. Both Yellow.
If you want white... get Phillips diamond visions or Fluxs bulbs on the Forum. And use ur X-tream visions as ur brights. (What I did)

I was under the impression that diamond vision bulbs are not road legal and for off road or show cars. I'm sure I read that somewhere. Also if you want white bulbs I can highly recommend fluxs bulbs.

Thanks guys, I did get them as they said they were the brightest (just not white). I'm looking at matching my Xenons (hopefully legally too). Does the corner lights only come on at slow speeds?

My real gripe and still on going is with the wipers. Aero Twins are to last 2x as long as standard so this is major fraud. They are going back! (knock knock...)

I don't mean to kick you but seriously 39 for aftermarket wipers... VW ones are only £44. The factory spec wipers are Bosch Aerotwins or Valeo Silencio. Regarding the fronts if the PN on the box/boxes are AM24U + AM19U they've probably given you the right item.
The rear VW boxed wiper at approx £8 is actually cheaper than the Bosch or Valeo boxed version which are around £12.

If you want a metal peddle cover this ebayer is the best source IMHO, VW have never produced a RHD metal cover. Whilst they don't show it if you ask a version with the "new" R logo can be made.

I'll check around retailers after this and stick to my word and hopefully buy what I take to the till. The packing is marked correctly but the wipers do not match the pictures and have no stamp other than Bosch. They have a thief in their shop and besides that their policy to send out a nearest item if out of stock without my consent is a disgrace. Online is always like this these days yet they think it's normal, from DIY stores to takeaways, what do they think we are - an inconvenience?

Thanks for the links for the foot rest. I may give it a try.

I got OEM VW blades for £44 from the dealer thanks Bork.

Bosch have changed the design of the Aero Twin. A trip to Halfords confirmed this.
The new singles are new design T profile in old packing showing the L profile whilst double front packs are the old L profiles.
Be warned, they are not so good and can miss the screen and the bracket looks after-market.
Go for VW wipers and hopefully they don't change these too!
