car insurance

Post by robinalex »

Just shopping around for insurance quotes for my scirocco and for me as the only driver it is looking like approx. £275. Just thought I would try adding the missus as named driver to see if it went up much and it actually went down to £236!!! same excess etc. Why would this be? I have a clean license and full no claims so why would it be so much cheaper just by adding her as an occasional named driver? Don't understand.

In the eyes of the insurance company female drivers are a lower risk and by adding your wife as a named driver the overall risk profile is reduced and as such it is cheaper.
