AMD BOUND :) guess the BHP!

Post by Sam88101 »

Hi guys got my scirocco r booked in at amd Essex for Saturday for a stage one...
I already have an ITG air intake
What sort of Bhp do we think after a stage one? Should be around the 300 mark :)
I'll do a report on how it goes and what my results are :)

AMD's dyno is famed for being a tad optimistic:-)

The thing about dynos is that if they give you a better than expected figure they are accurate. If they give you a low figure, the dyno is under reading.

Do a dyno run before the stage 1 remap and then again after, that way at least you have some idea of the improvement in percentage terms.

That's a lot of messing around, for the sack of a reading being wrong by ten Bhp lol
Long as the remap is good :)

Dynos are a lottery, based on VW ownership I can tell you:

Ones which flatter
Ones which will disappoint
Ones which are not properly calibrated above certain rpm
Ones which give incorrect torque readings when you do the maths
Ones which are honest in terms of figures

My car has been dynod by Revo and may well tomorrow when it's in for development work but in reality I never quote their figures having been lambasted on this forum in the past, I will with a select few go to my dyno of choice who is independent and is on the money and has no tuner affiliation and have a benchmark against my previous cars

It's not all about the peak numbers

I couldn't agree more with what you have said.
But a before and after on the same dyno should give me a good clue of what's going on whether it's a bit flattering or not :)

How about Mustang's Dyno? What i've heard they will give you 99,9% exactly numbers! I'll be back with numbers from my car after i've been to the dyno.

Sam88101, make a dyno test before and after! Making a test only after the car has been tuned doesn't matter, no interesting numbers at all.
