Ok - I've read the user manual, and frankly I'm confused about the operation of the alarm system in the Scirocco. Basically my question is this - can I leave a child or dog in the car whilst the car is locked. The user manual seems confusing on this issue - or maybe I'm just being a bit thick! The way I understand it one press of the remote lock key engages the deadlocks - anyone inside the car cannot get out. 2 presses of the remote lock key disables the deadlocks, so anyone inside the car can exit in an emergency. But when is the internal monitoring system switched on - in the deadlock on or off mode. What do I need to do when I need to leave a dog in the car but require it to be locked without triggering the alarm?
Thanks in advance
Mike

Re: Newbie question about Scirocco alarm
Internal monitoring and deadlocking are independent of each other as far as I know. If you need to leave the dog in, press the internal monitoring button so it lights up yellow (disabled). Then lock the car as normal - you are correct in the operation of the deadlocks. The next time the car is unlocked the internal monitoring will be reset and you will need to push the button again each time you need it disabling

To disable the deadlocks you need to press the keyfob twice when locking the car.
To disable the internal monitoring, as above, press the button in the door pillar when leaving the car.

Thanks all - just found the button for disabling the internal monitoring - obviously in my eagerness to enjoy this car I have skipped a few paragraphs in the user manual. Problem solved.

Re: Newbie question about Scirocco alarm
Sorry to hijack the thread but I was wondering how sensitive is the system. Like I went to Bicester village the other day and had to run back to shop so gf stayed in the car she said the alarm went off and she hardly moved. I gatherd she moved a lot to set it off.

Do you not trust your girlfriend not to run away?
As you've found out it's sensitive enough to detect a,relatively small movement.

Re: Newbie question about Scirocco alarm
Hmmm... I tested this when I got my car last summer, and found that two presses of the button also disabled the internal monitoring?
Case in point was during a hot day I wanted to lock the car but leave the windows slightly open whilst on the drive. To test, I left the windows open then pressed the button once. Put my arm though the open window and the alarm went off as expected. Repeated the same steps but double clicking the button and I could wave my arms around inside the car like a maniac and the alarm stayed silent?
