To my understanding after googling this car already has a dab antenna under the rear side window? So I don't need to buy a dab antenna?
If the antenna is already there. Is it under the right or left rear window?
If the dab antenna is already there: Will the plug for it bee laying around somewhere behind the existing RCD310 (not connected)? Or is it both antennas in one connector allready connected to the RCD310?
DAB aerial is on the rear right side window glass unless your Scirocco came with a bee-sting aerial on the roof (Aug2008 - Nov2008 build).
The aerial amplifier located behind the top of the right rear passenger trim panel under the glass. It will be standard am/fm. The aerial amplifier has to be 1K8 035 552F.

If it has A or B it is FM/AM only. So not the best reception.

The norwegian VW importer has confirmed that the 2010 modells (build week after w22) will have the following changes:
-DAB-antenna will be inn side window
Does that mean that non DAB cars will still have the dab antenna?
If I need to buy the F version. Where can I get that?

That reference is to fine brown antennas on the actual window on the inside, same for DAB and non-DAB Sciroccos. The amplifier is where I pointed to the change when the option is ordered at the factory.
VW Dealers . Not much elsewhere for the amplifier. Your first check is to take off the trim and look at the part number of the one you have fitted.

Right side is:
- DAB Aerial-
- Diversity FM 1 Aerial
- FM/AM Aerial
Depending which additional factory option was selected for your Scirocco. The original factory build option determines which aerial amplifier is fitted. The brown aerial on the inside glass is always the same.
Left side is:
- Diversity FM2 aerial
- FM Aerial.
Again option at factory build determines which aerial amplifier is fitted. The brown aerial on the inside glass is always the same.
The Heated Rear Window elements NOT used on the Scirocco. So as Cuprabob says, read out of interest the link he has provided.

Out of being nosey, is the antenna just the part that the arrow points to, or does it include the aerial running up the window too?
Is it basically as easy as changing the main part and using same aerial on the window to allow DAB to be used as the RNS seems to have DAB access but no reception.
The red arrow points to the Aerial Amplifier. The wire coming from it to the left side of the photo goes down to the sill and onto the radio. The right side goes along and up to a bottom edge central window connection point to the glass aerial. A single point connection, no mutiple aerials on the window. But mind on this is a later DAB configuaration. Its a similar situation on the left side of the car.
Very early DAB on the Scirocco was a Bee-Sting Aerial on the centre rear roof area as part of the shark fin aerial. Aug 2008 - April 2009 iirc.

Options: multifunction steering wheel, fogs, 18" alloys; DAB; XDS activated, DRLs reset, lock beep activated; indicator repeat set to 4; covered cup holder, rear seat 12v socket installed. metal pedals, 210 Golf GTi also in the stable. Scirocco gone - miss it. Polo GTI now.
You will only have a DAB antenna/amplifier if the original radio was specified with the DAB option from new. The DAB antenna is the same as the FM antenna but has a different amplifier connected to the antenna in the right hand rear window. The DAB antenna part number is 1K8 035 552 F. Only if the amplifier has the F suffix is it a DAB amplifier and the only way to check is to look at the module. For more info search on this site for 'DAB antenna' and look for the RW1 thread.
Just upgraded my head unit to a Kenwood DAB and am looking for a solution that will allow me to get rid of the ugly windscreen aerial supplied and use the Scirocco aerials in the rear windows.
I understand I will need antenna 1K8 035 552F to provide a DAB signal. Looking at the antenna ending in 'F', it has 2 Fakra male connectors - am I correct in assuming one is for FM and one is for DAB? So would I connect the existing FM connection to the new antenna and then create a new FAKRA to SMB patch lead that I would then connect onto the second male connector on the antenna?
If what I said there is correct, are the FM & DAB outputs marked on the antenna?
They're all colour coded on the back of the head unit. So presumably if you have an FM only amplifier and it's got a red FAKRA (made the colour up) and the DAB one comes with one red and one green then the green is DAB.
If DAB is installed as standard, then the connector is 'black'. Mine didn't come with DAB installed as standard, I have 2 white connectors which are for am/fm.
Your post doesn't help, in fact it's just ridiculous as you reference 'made up' colours - you should delete it....

I installed a VW DAB amplifier. When you take out the old amplifier just note the plug position of the FM cable. The new amplifier FM connection is in the same position and same Fackra shaped plug (sorry cant remember whether top or bottom). You will need a new cable for the DAB connection - amplifier to radio. You need to check which Fackra connector colour you need as the different colours have different shapes. If you have bought the amplifier from a VW dealer they should be able to sort you out.

Just trying to help by pointing out they are colour coded. I can't be arsed to strip my car down to find which colour I which so I told you I had picked a colour at random. Next time I won't try and help. So you'll have to get off your arse and look rather than expect people to bend over backwards to tell you all the answers.
