How to tell BHP ?
How to tell BHP ?
Just wondering if there are any other way apart from the info on the door frame as to what BHP your car is ?
Reason I ask is I ordered and paid for a 140 BUT the door frame says 170!
Now have I scored or is it a mistake ?

Whats the three letter engine code on the inside service book white sticker or off the boot sticker, about midway down either sticker.

Re: How to tell BHP ?
I thought the power on the stickers was in KW, in which case 150KW is just over 200BHP

Re: How to tell BHP ?
Yes, it would be good to confirm as I've never seen VW use anything other than KW on data plates, data stickers or in fact in the manuals.
The only place I've seen them PS and BHP is in marketing collatoral.

Yes - I will check again tomorrow, I know for sure it is a 2.0 litre under the bonnet though, older variant, ie 197BHP.
Re: How to tell BHP ?
Well mine say 170ps with I thought was the same as BHP as all my other car have had the same BHP number as the manufactures ps number.

Re: How to tell BHP ?
Besides the engine code, the power rating in "Kw" is on the white stickers. 103Kw (140PS) or 125Kw (170PS).

Hi Cuprabob, yes - just checked the sticker on my car, it definitely says '150PS', engine 2.0 litre and fuel type petrol.Cuprabob wrote:Yes, it would be good to confirm as I've never seen VW use anything other than KW on data plates, data stickers or in fact in the manuals.

Very strange I must admit.
Just to satisfy my curiosity, checked the white sticker in the handbook and reassuringly it tells me I have a 147KW unit.
