Does anyone on here experience a juddery clutch when engine is cold, most noticable on climbs moving off from standstill? Once warmed up its not so noticable.
Mines been like this from new, just wondered if there's any mileage in flagging it up before my warranty expires (although i fear theyll try and tell me its wear and tear unless i push it)
Mines a gt170 tdi manual trasnmission with 28,000 miles on the clock.

Re: Clutch judder from cold
I have noticed sometimes that my car judders when its cold, and it happens when i drive up a hill from my house. Don´t know if its the clutch but it feels like the car is letting off the gas. Happened two times I think!

Re: Clutch judder from cold
I used to get a bad judder in my old mk5 golf tdi in those gears, started as a mild shudder but after going to a very hill part of the UK made it really bad. I never had it diagnosed but guess it was the DMF

Re: Clutch judder from cold
All, a characteristic of the ZF clutch slipping as it engages at engine idle rpm speed or due to high loads. Not caused by the dual mass flywheel. Whilst not "normal", no permanent fix yet. And not a worn clutch. Replacement won't necessarily provide a cure.
The only change that has been done so far was against the 1.4TSi 160PS, to ensure Engine ECU software was updated to remove the misfiring (ie. Campaign 24s4 in September 2010). This because the 160's misfiring would aggravate the ZF clutch engagement. All history now.
You might check your TDi's are running as smoothly as possible, both at idle transistion to drive and at speed.
Alternatively, the Rear Pendulum engine mount bushes have become soft with high engine torque and usage. Maybe worth considering renewing these bushes with new originals (part no. Lower half - 1K0 199 867Q, Upper half - 1K0199868Q) and the arm incorporating a smaller bush (arm part No. 1K0 199 855BB).
(Not a diesel underview but arrangement is the same)
This will hold the torque steady better with new bushing.
Or uprated the bushes or add a poly insert in the main bush area.
