I've a new 140 TDI Bluemotion and put just over 1000 miles on it in the last few weeks.
The car runs fine but the vibration from tickover to about 1300 revs seems completely out of character with the rest of the rev range, which is very smooth. It can be felt at all times (in neutral, with the clutch in/out, on the move) and especially through the steering at exactly 1250 revs. I've also lifted the bonnet and looked at the engine while ticking over and can't believe it's normal for an it to vibrate so visibly - it's like an out of balance washing machine... I was hoping it would dial out as the engine broke in, but it's no better and possibly actually worse.
I just wanted to check whether this is normal before I go to the dealers. It's really annoying as I'm finding I'm driving around this rev range. Even then I can feel it when the revs drop between gear changes. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Excessive engine vibration on 140 TDI?
I had this with a Fabian vrs from new. I ended up rejecting it as they couldn't completely resolve it. Something to do with the EGR and gasket of the wrong size. They ended up having to advance the timing of the engine to smooth t out but then it introduced vibrations els ewhere. The engine also jumped around in the bay like it was going to rip the engine mounts. Very odd. Interestingly tuning n the air con did resolve but that wasn't a true fix.
Get it into the dealer ASAP is my advice and stop driving it.
