Stone chip

Post by Garry74 »

What do people do to fix stone chips? I have one on my bonnet. I've tried chip ex, which is OK, but i know it is there.

Is a chip somehting that can be repaired by a mobile repairer without having to spray it? Will a repair be visible?

I'd rather take it to an approved VW repairer, but hate to think how much it would cost.

The chip is on the bonnet, near the windscreen on the drivers side. Down to the base paint, about 2mm square.

If it bothered you so much, you'd need to get the panel re-sprayed. If you used a VW approved repairer, you will be charged an absolute fortune. I got quoted £460 just to paint a bumper.
In the end I got a cheaper guy to paint it for £75. And it looked fine.

i'll probably get a mobile repairer to look at it eventually. If it wasn't in such an obvious place I probably would not be that bothered.
