Finally collected today. Here's my motor

Post by runmcleod »

Today I collected my new Scirocco. It's a 2.0L GT Tdi blue motion 140. I opted for this as the majority of my driving is on the motorways so I wanted the economy. £20 road tax is an added bonus too!
First impressions are great, exactly what I expected. It drives very smooth- petrol like if anything, nothing compared to my 150 TDI Golf I recently sold. There's no real kick in the turbo.
Interior is very cosy and you feel low down and the car on the whole feel sporty.
Rear vision is terrible but I tend to use wing mirrors a lot more anyway with driving a van in the past.

Extras on the car:
Parking sensors
Winter pack (heated seats, headed washers and headlight washers
Cruise control

I bought some genuine fitted mats which are now in, I've put the clutch and chrome brake GTi pedals on, accelerator is going on when I have more time.
I have chrome exhaust tips as found on the petrol models to be fitted.
I'll be changing all the lights, interior to white LED and a HID type kit/bulb for the headlights.

I've booked in for a Revo remap to take it to 170bhp at the end of April once the engine has had a chance to be run in a little and the car loosens up. I'm also lowering it with Eibach springs- they go down 30mm. I don't want to slam it as it's just not practical for me. Not when it's spanking new anyway!

After that i'll be upgrading to 19's, hopefully by May/June followed by a possible leather retrim later in the year.

PIctures from this afternoon:

I'll add more pictures as I progress with this. My aim is just a sporty looking car, nothing too crazy as I think it's a great car as standard but I'm looking forward to making a few personal changes.

Chrome tips now fitted
They took some doing. I tried a block of wood and a hammer but had no joy so ended up wrapping 5 socks onto a hammer and knocking them on that way. Happy with the outcome though.

Great looking motor in one of the best colours, I see you've also removed the Bluemotion badge, always thought it looked a bit naff!

I would just like to give you a little advice, I see your looking at a Revo remap in a few weeks time. With your car being brand new I would consider a tuning box rather than a remap, it gives the same performance and economy gains, however, the advantage is that it can be easily removed (about 10 mins) should your car require warranty work or routine servicing, I have heard stories of cars coming back having been reset to their original settings or worse being voided on warranty.
I have a tuning box from tdi-tuning fitted to mine and I am very pleased with the results.

I also love the red strip around the front grille, think I'll be on eBay later for one of those!!

Thanks :) I agree on the colour, I love white cars!
Yeah I wasn't a fan of the Bluemotion badge at all, I'll be removing the 2.0TDI lettering too and replacing with a decal for my web design company- free advertising!
The dealer said to me I could remap it if I like, i'll just make sure they're aware of it when I get it done and make sure they don't adjust my ECU. I will confirm with them about warranty but they wouldn't suggest it if it effected the warranty. I spoke with the tuning specialist and they suggested the remap over the tuning box any day, I don't know the technical side of things though.
I'm a fan of the red strip too, I bought another colour too but glad I went red.

If you've checked with the dealer it should be ok, better to be safe than sorry!!

I have ordered myself the red stip from eBay, I hoping it will look good on a black car, should do

All the best

I like that aswell, my White one comes soon have you got a link to where to buy the strip from please?

Is it a rubbery type strip or a vinyl coachline type thing.

Really happy with it. Yes the ride is a noticeable amount stiffer than standard but not as harsh as coilovers
