Bedford Autodrome

Post by montstable »

Hi All,

Had a fantastic day at the track this Saturday. The R really is a brilliant machine on the track - seriously quick. Only slight thing was brake judder after 5 or so laps.

Here are some pics of the day:

I'm off again in March - this is beginning to turn into a very expensive hobby!

Only thing is I just don't think the brakes are up to it at the moment as when hot you get some very uncomfortable juddering which when braking from 135mph to 60mph for a hairpin can feel slightly disconcerting. Anyone got any ideas on how to upgrade to get rid of the problem? Surprisingly didn't experience a huge amount of fade.

The juddering is just the discs going over their operating temp and starting to warp. I found I could do 5-6 laps max before having to come back in and let them cool down

Alternative is to change ur driving style and brake earlier as opposed to hammering them hard and late for a corner.

Or do what I do and get a set of AP 4 pots with 2 piece discs :)

I can confirm that, as I was with the Chinese stig at the time, was pretty bad TBH... Lee's AP's are the best 1k I've ever let him spend :D

Errrr Kung Fu Stig thank you

As for OEM brakes - don't try cheap Pagid copies. Absolute rubbish out on track!

have to admit those 4 pot APs are superb choice and more than up to the job and nicely balanced to the car, i got through a set of mintex pads in 120 miles of the boxster fronts at bedford and only faded at end of the day
