Front wheel rumble

Post by Scottyg25 »

Since buying my Roc I've noticed a sort of rumble coming from the front passenger side wheel. Had it into stealers to get checked out but they found nothing wrong with the suspension. I'm still getting the same feeling while driving the car and it's much worst over uneven road surfaces. It's as if the wheel is bouncing a little. Front drivers side feels planted and totally different. Going back in on Thursday for a test drive with a technician to see if they can feel it. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas what it could be or experienced something similar ? I'm not technically minded and don't want to come across clueless so some ideas would be of assistance. Cheers :)

Can you feel any vibration through the steering wheel? Maybee only above certain speeds?

rumble says wheel bearing to me but do check the right hand side as well , it may sound as its comiing from the left but that is not allways the side that is worn .

Could be the tyres, swap fronts to back and see if it follows

Thanks Guys, it tends to feel worst below 30 ish and can't really tell on the motorway. The wheels were all refurbished before I picked the car up by the dealer? It's annoying when you can feel/tell theres something not quite right but can't put your finger on it! @ buster, could right bearing be gone but feel it on left? Cars only just 2 with only 17k on the clock!!

hi i sugested you check the right hand side too, because my daughter who has a vw sharan had just the same sort of rumble, you described coming from the left side.i suggested she take it to the garage. and they found found the right bearing had gone. which came as a bit of a suprise to me but it sure did the job. also add it was not a vw garage but their local one who deal with all makes. hope you soon get it sorted as there is nothing worse than knowing you have a problem and the dealer not finding it. must add that wheel bearing rumble would tend to be there all the time.

Cheers Buster. Hopefully tech will feel it on Thursday and get it sorted. I'm thinking even if they can't feel it I will ask them to do a full inspection of both wheels and surrounding area? Cheers
