Scirocco broke in

Post by faigy90 »

Had the Scirocco broken into yesterday outside my work, during the day on a busy main road in Bradford. Driver side window smashed, door paintwork damamged, stereo nicked, scratched dashboard and gear nob and glass in the tyres. Absoloutly gutted, watch out everyone! £600 excess to pay, merry xmas.

Hope the person(s) who did it die before the year is out. Unlucky mate, maybe you'll win the £600 back on the lottery at some point.

What scummy bar stewards. Really feel for you mate. How do they get the stereo? That would take ages to remove as its all integrated? It would be useless to them now surely?

But yes, it really makes me mad reading this sort of thing.

God knows what they would want with it, it's only the RCD510, not a Nav one - I thought nicking stereos was a thing of the past. All I can think is they will have been back with a truck later on hoping I hadn't moved it, took hambrake off and wheeled it away! I've worked hard since uni and im now lucky enough to own a nice car, then sh*t like this happens. Then some dole scrounging scumbags do this, it's a horrible world sometimes.

Faigy: Any CCTV coverage along that street? Might be worth asking council/Police or any local businesses adjacent to where it happened.

Pinching integrated stereos is on the rise, especially in a car group like VAG - there are so many VAG cars that an RCD510 can fit into.

Whereabouts, out of interest? Was parked on Burnett St a while ago, busy as you like and returned to the car to find two hooded gentlemen stood blatantly looking in on the *nothing* I had on display, can only think they were eyeing up the nav....

Feel your pain, although not the same, but some f**ker hit the back of mine in a car park couple of weeks ago, popped side of bumper out, broke the clip and bent the bloody bracket the bumper / inner wing screws into, the collision would have been obvious, did they leave any details?... Correct. Fork out a boatload of dosh for a nice motor and thats what you get in return.

I can't see how these thieves are managing to remove them, it would take too long and they would be spotted??

I see, not as secure as I thought. However, it would still take time so I am astounded how these thieves have the audacity to do this, they would have taken several minutes to get the unit out so must have been determined.

If you know what you're doing, it would take approx 60 sec to remove, far too easy for an 'integrated' system.

Sorry to hear your crap new mate. I can only imagine that there is a way to re-code or re-flash the radio so that it can be used in another car.

I also hope they die soon.....

I can't quite believe you could remove it in 60 seconds, as thieves tend to have IQ's of less than 5, it would take them a long time to work out what to do!

I'd give them 30 seconds max. from window gone to on their way, no matter what IQ. Ever watched them?

Yes, 30 seconds is about right.

Yes I have watched them – but even better I have nicked them !

Problem is they well know that all that is going to happen – is a caution – that’s about the only qualifying certificate they will ever achieve in their miserable life.

Sorry to hear your news.

It was on Gain Lane, outside Morrisons HQ where I work most of the time. Because I work for another company I am classed as a contractor so cannot park in the carpark! I am now parking in the store in Idle and getting a bus into the office.

The guy who recovered the car from my home said what thieves do now is smash a window, steal something or just leave it. Come back later in the hope you havn't moved it, get in, take handbrake off and tow it away! He said I was lucky to still have the car! There's some evil people in this world, and like a couple of you have said I wouldn't be sad to see them go to an early grave.

I think so yes and I bloody hope so! But I have heard that factory fitted alarms are not very good! As I was walking back to the car the passenger side rear light was lit up, which made me think straight away someone had touched it.
