Slightly more descriptive than Sumatra
That's not helping!!!
Dark Chocolate is probably more realistic than "Dark Maroon" though which is what they call it on the German site.

I've had a 2.0 petrol on loan for three days from the dealer though our car scheme at work. When the lad turned up to drop it off I was a dead cert to order candy white..............walked over to recepetion and there was the most striking green thing I'd ever seen. Three days on and I'm in love, the Mrs loves the colour too.........so add me to the Viper Green brigade and remove my candy white vote from the front page of this thread!!
Pictures to follow in the morning....

Got a 2.0 TSI in Shadow Blue on order, but been having second thoughts about the colour ever since...
What I wanted to know is, will the white start to dull out after a while if i don't get it valeted every 6 months?

Shadow Blue looks great with the sun on it - but looks a little lifeless when the weather is dull. I haven't seen it on a Scirocco - im going off seeing it on a Golf.
Some say (myself included) that the Scirocco doesn't suit the very dark colours - they seem to hide the Scirocco's curves. You really need to see the Scirocco in the flesh for the colour you're ordering, it is such a colour sensitive car.

But some would say that Pewter Gray (my colour) looks dull without having seen it.
You really need to see these cars. Off the brochure i'd have never picked Pewter Grey, but see it in the flesh and it is not that grey at all (Icy Blue or Slate blue, depending upon the sunlight. It helps slim the Scirocco's fat arse too!
The brochure pictures for the colour comparisons are such a poor representation of the product.
The Scirocco is one of those cars that pictures do no justice to, you'll never know for sure how much you like it in your proposed colour until you actually see one in front of you. Don't risk your money buying a car you've never seen, ring around the dealers to find out who has what colour in as a stock car or demonstrator.
My last car was a Tornado Red Golf, and I thought it looked great, but I didn't like Salsa Red on a Scirocco - the Scirocco is that colour sensitive.

The white shouldn't dull at all if it gets a regular wax for UV protection. I almost went for White myself. I used to have an 8 year old MK2 Golf in White and there were no signs of yellowing at all - VW White has always been a robust colour. Best choice of the non metallics for Scirocco IMHO.

Have a look in the gallery (top right of this forum) they may not be in the metal but will give you a much better idea of the colours than the configurator.

red is actually quite nice in the flesh, pics dont do it justice, but nothing rivals the green

I live in Manc and like you hadnt found a Sumatra in the flesh and decided to gamble on ordering one off the swatch card.
However i was in North Wales the other day and I drove past the VW garage near Rhyl and they have a Sumatra one on the forecourt. Its only about a 50 minute drive away if you are that desperate to see one in the flesh mate.
Looked lovely when the sun was shining on it
Might look a little flat when it is dull.

" but i really would like to see the sumatra before i decide"
There's a Sumatra coloured in Gilbert Lawton showroom yesterday at Old Trafford. It's got truffle inside, TDI, GT Spec. Very gleaming in the afternoon sun. The colour is best described as black with a hint of brown.

I have to agree with you on the pewter grey. I think the colour is call Beryllium grey here in Singapore.
Grey has never come across my mind and i was quite certain i would get the black
But after seeing the grey a few times in flesh, the colour started to grow on me and finally booked the grey

Mines Sumatra with Truffle leather and I love it. The Sumatra colour is a wierd one though - In strong direct sunlight it has a bronze hue, in typical British overcast weather it looks more a gun metal grey, and on a sunny day parked in the shade, it almost has a slight green hue.
Loving it though. Dark enough to hide the dirt (to an extent), light enough to make the grille and other black details stand out, rare enough not the look like all the other typical german metal out there.
If I had to change it I would probably go for the white... but I'd still want Sumatra...
