my roc is the same, I also have a seat altea Xl with DSG, this is exactly the same. My wife will not drive either car because she say it's awkward, which is no bad thing. I do not have any problem with either

Says who? The dealer?
I've googled around regarding this issue, and it seems that everybody is complaining to the dealer about this. Obviously a dealer won't take any responsibilty about adjusting something as critical as the brakes.

But has anyone actually taken the DSG brake pedal assembly apart and inspected the damn thing?

Yes - VW franchised dealers official stance on the issue is that there is no facility to alter the position on the brake pedal in relation to the accelerator pedal.

What individuals may have done is a matter for them (and their insurance companies) and certainly not something VW would condone.
