Correct, who needss poor quality leather, dynaudio badges, and ugly parking sensor spots on the bumper. . . .
Me !
I know I could have put after market speakers and a Amp in but the Dynaudio it is a decent system may lack a little base but that's easily sorted. I know a set of decent Focal speakers to replace the stock, with fitting it would be around the same price as the dynaudio and some extra hassle.
SatNav is very expensive option as is Leather, but neither is poor quality imo.
you can keep the parking sensors, I agree they spoil the lines of the Car
+ remember if you want to have Leather retrims and after Market Audio they will probably want paying for it all in one go.
P.S. if I do add exhausts it will be resonated versions
Iove the sound from the outside, but its too much for me having it too loud in the cabin.(must be getting old
)

have to agree with the parking seneors they don't look right, why they dldn't put Audi style ones on is beyond me and as for the exhaust that will have to go it looks like a wheelbarrow from the back and thats the part most people are going to see when i get mine.

Not sure if this thread is still live but hopefully so. Thanks to all for their input.
I have today tried something recomended to me, not sure if it will work: Dealer has placed my order for an R - this is a request and VW will apparentlt respond with a confirmed slot (dealer estimates any rejection will be within the week). Dealer expects acceptance but warns of long build lead to delivery. To those of you in the know does this sound feasible or correct? If so what do you reckon the lead time to delivery might be? Or should I be ditching this and buying the dealer owned, delivery mileage plus some test drives R (albeit the spec is ridiculously over loaded)?

If I was in your shoes i'd get the dealer one, my order was a 4 / 5 month wait

i think all 500 units have been sold for 2010 i orderd mine Nov 2009 build week 14 unconfirmed.I think a dealer owned is the best way to go,or you may get a cancellation, best of luck.

Im going in on Sunday to look to place an Order, I have been told September will be likely. Although, I am concerned thought if they bring any changes in in the interim.
To keep part on topic, I would interested to see how available the other units are, i.e. GT

Like Anakin I would go for the dealer one. I have been waiting since November and it's still unconfirmed build week 16
. You also have no gaurentees of it being deliverd this year from what I have been reading. But who knows we have all been fed lies from the start i.e we were told it would be customer orders only or atleast first. Bullshit.
You also raise a good point about possible changes will there be a 2011 wheel etc?

tough call, dealer one with toys you don't necessary want, however, you have to weigh up whether there is still allocation for this year, how long to arrive and further depreciation on your current car (offset against additional toys on dealer one)

I have a Candy White DSG car arriving early April as my circumstances have changed slightly I may have to sell this fairly quick after taking delivery (maybe as soon as 1st week in May) If your interested in getting one with out a long wait drop me a pm it would represent a large saving on the present list price

I spoke to VW CS this morning, rather than waste a salesmans time. It seems there is no factory order allocation left, only what it is in the dealer network unsold. He did say that there is a chance that they are going to release some further build slots later in the year i.e Summer/Sept time... Although he did emphasise that it was unconfirmed. Still if I place an order now and then wait for build in summer, it works perfectly, so long as they dont change anything per my earlier post.

I love my GT but there are piles of them everywhere now. If I could afford to swap mine for the R I would do in a second.

PhilS when i bought the GT i was toying with the S3, its a completely different beast compared to lesser A3s and really impressed me on roads i know well, i know its reaching the end of its model life but this week i've been checking out black editions for the wigits

im still toying with both the s3 has the quattro and is nice on the eye but i love the scirocco the 1.6 a3 i have currently is still nice and i did consider the a3 2.0t with quattro but its only the gti engine so not got the same power capiblities as the s3 block which is the way my project ideas are quickly spinning

Save around 8K and points on your licence - just put some 19" wheels on your TSI
